Greetings JRKH,

Not even snickerdoodeles?????

I decided not to have cookies today, I had buttermilk pie instead. I think I have a very wrong idea of penance.

Speaking of penance I was talking to my spiritual director/confessor yesterday and he mentioned something to do as a penance. Without thinking I said, "I don't want to do that." He fired back, "Well then it will be all the more meritorious won't it?" To say the least I swallowed whatever reply was coming and just submitted and did the penance anyway.

God Bless.

The Bishops Conference of England and Wales has returned this practise (not that it actually ever left, only now it's recommended)!
