Irenaeuslyons, I downloaded your software and I have to say I am impressed. There is quite a lot that is included with it for free. It also uses the classic windows style which I like. It is simple and easy to use.

I did a keyword search on the word 'love' and it shows me a graphical representation of how many occurrences in each book of the bible there is. Interestingly enough there is the most love in the book of Sirach at 23 hits. And, to think the Protestants threw that book out.

But, this book is like over a $100 for a hard copy of it. However, it comes with the Logos software.

I can buy the book for $30 from Logos by itself. But, is it really worth it to pay $250 for the collection? I noticed some of the books in the collection you can download off the internet for free.
That depends on what you want Logo's to do. It is designed for Bible Study, not for reading, though you can do that to. What is neat about the software is that it links all those resources together so you can do a comprehensive study on virtually any subject. While the cost is a concern, it again will depend on what you want out of it. If you are into intense Bible study on a single topic, or verse, then I think you will find this program worth the money.
God bless!

I have to wonder how you can give away all this material when a good portion of it is in copyright: for example, Tanner's translation of the councils and the Encyclical letters of John Paul II and Benedict XVI. Are all the permissions squared away?

I have removed Credo Bible Study from public download while I perform an audit of all the document sourcing, attribution, permissions, and copyright status. When it is re-enabled, it will have an end- user viewable document for a quick lookup to verify the status of content.

I notice a lot of questions about how to use Logos. The New Catholic Blog at www.scripture studysoftware.com/blog has been featuring training articles every now and then that are quite useful. I'd recommend checking them out.

I purchased the Logos Catholic Scripture Study Package about a week ago after listening to Al Kresta and Steve Ray talk about it on the radio. So far, I LOVE it!

The price IS a little steep but when you look at the resources you get, it is well worth it. There is no way one can collect the all resources either online or hard copies for the same price.

There is a bit of a learning curve but I am able to play around in it in pretty well so far. As with any new software program it just takes time to learn all of its features but I am already working on building an impressive Catholic Apologetics tool.

They are also taking pre-orders of the entire Navarre Bible Series. I had been looking to purchase this series for my bookshelf but if I can get an electronic copy and interface it with Logos – WOW!!!

If anyone is thinking about purchasing the Logos software, Ave Maria Radio and Steve Ray both have coupon codes for 15% off any package. Type in either “AMR” or “STEVE” (without quotes) at checkout.

I apologize if this sounds like an advertisement for the software but I am very impressed with this product. It sure beats making margin notes in my Bible!

Finally, I second the suggestion for any current users to take a look at Verbum – The Logos Bible Software Catholic Blog. They have some good tips on setting Logos up for Catholics. It seems like the Logos user forums on the main Logos software site is geared more for how to use the product in general and not for discussing how we, as Catholics, can use it to study and grow in the Faith. If there are enough Logos software users here, perhaps we could start a Catholic Answers Social Group here on CAF?
