Default Trader Joe's?

Hi there,

I had read that Trader Joe's has donated to Planned Parenthood. Is it a mortal sin to shop there? Thanks for any insight! God bless!

Well, from what I know about these things, you are not obligated to avoid them, as you can't control what a business does with your money, but It couldn't hurt.

I just found this link that states in the article that because of the boycott, Trader Joe's no longer supports PP. It's under the "Take Action" heading. There was another result in Google where a customer service rep from Trader Joe's said they only donated food to the neighborhood organizations.

http://www.qop.org/index.php/pro-life-ministry

Another link said that Trader Joe's has been advised to avoid donating to all controversial organizations.

Other good news is the the Komen Foundtion is no longer supporting Planned Parenthood. I know many women boycotted this foundation which works so hard to find a cure for breast cancer. The new chairman is anit-abortion so they cut their support of PP.

That really is good news. Many businesses and organizations were boycotted it seems and lost a lot of money by supporting PP. Now PP is feeling the pinch and losing millions.

"Another alert AmP reader sent me this about Trader Joe’s:

My mother (a loyal TJ-shopper) came across this list and called the store’s PR person, who told her that one store in Las Vegas made a donation to their local Planned Parenthood. They have been counseled not to do this in the future, as Trader Joe’s avoids all politically controversial charities.

As you can see, a simple phone call may help provide the information you need to make a prudent decision about where you shop......"

Keep in mind that Trader Joe's is owned by the same company that owns Aldi! If you're going to be boycotting Trader Joe's, you need to boycott Aldi.

Also, Walmart is basically China-Mart these days.........and you all know China's views on abortion and infanticide.

regardless of what companies your local store donates to, that has little or nothing to do with their day to day operations and there is no moral issue whatever related to your shopping there

you may make a personal choice, but there is no specific church teaching or ban

There's a new development regarding Komen cutting ties with Planned Parenthood as of Friday, Feb 3 morning:

http://www.lifesitenews.com/news/bre...eases-new-stat

The article also states:

"Austin Ruse of C-Fam told LifeSiteNews.com Friday morning that, “The mafia shakedown tactics may have worked, but we’re not sure.”

Ruse advised that pro-lifers should “take a wait and see attitude” to discern whether the pro-abortion pushback against Komen would succeed
."

Looks like Komen received a lot of pushback from pro-abortion groups regarding their decision to drop Planned Parenthood and now it is unclear EXACTLY what they will be doing. There's definitely a spiritual battle taking place....

Our Lady of Guadalupe, pray for us!

I'm sorry to say I just saw on the news that Komen is reversing their decision and they are once again supporting PP.

This is truly, truly sad, as we know that Planned Parenthood is not in the business for mammograms and breast health - they are abortion providers and that's where their money is.

Having breast cancer myself, I know how important moral and ethical research is to fight this terrible disease. But I can't understand why the Komen foundation would want to be affiliated with an abortion provider who's main focus is abortion?

Prayers are needed for Komen....
