Default Green scapular - does it need to be blessed first?

I just got 2 green scapulars and my intention is to place one under my husband's side of the mattress. Do I need to have it blessed first?

I know I have to pray every day, I think the instructions for the devotion are included with it.

Thanks, and if you have any amazing stories of conversion through use of the green scapular, I'd love to hear them!

I had my husband's blessed as they are sacramentals and channels of grace.

No interest in RCIA yet on my husband's part, but I live in hope.

I placed one under the mattress of a friend about 7 years ago and am still praying. Never give up, right?

While I am praying for his conversion; I am praying at the VERY LEAST that this person's heart/mind will soften and be willing to learn and realize that the Catholic church is not the most evil institution ever, etc. etc. etc. I guess that would be a conversion of sorts.

Please hear my prayers, Lord. Your will be done.

Yes, ask a priest to bless it.

I hope this works for your husband. I'll do the same for mine.

I got 2 of them, I'm going to wear mine, as I have been quite anxious over the last week, and I almost feel as though some sort of emotional/mental crisis is coming on. I read that we are supposed to wear and use them with confidence so that is what I am going to do.

Yes they should be blessed. A brochure says its effectiveness is based on the degree of confidence the sponsor has. Life is long so be patient. My older sister is converting this Easter. She is in her seventies.

It only took her 50 years of being married to my Catholic brother in law, and having several brothers who have been catholic for that long. I suppose we could have been better role models for her. Some of my siblings are still lapsed catholics. Now if only the rest of the family could follow her lead.

Trying to spread the faith is tough in this day and age. Most folks are turned off from any form of evangelism. I try to plant a thought each Christmas or Easter with a simple email just to remind folks of what its all about, that its all real and true. Everyone knows the stories about Christ and the Bible, but many just feel that it does not apply to them or they are just works of fiction.

Remember to say the associated prayer every day, "Most Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen"
