Satanism and the Eucharist
Hello, I was once told that the reason why the Sacred Host cannot be left alone is because some people might try to steal it and use it in Satanic rituals. Is this true?
Do we have any documented (date, location, by whom etc) cases of Satanists stealing Sacred Hosts from churches?

I don't have examples, but people have posted here about doing things like that. It really happens.

Re: Satanism and the Eucharist
A while back there was a large surge of people find a way to steal the Eucharist for the purpose of desecrating it on youtube or their blogs.
Of course this was not Satanists but ATHEISTS!

Re: Satanism and the Eucharist
The thing is my Protestant friend denies the real presence and I wanted to prove to him that Satanists acknowledge the real presence by stealing Catholic hosts instead of Protestant communion. However I need concretely documented instances.
Thanks for your feedback.

Re: Satanism and the Eucharist
Yes, this happens. Famous Catholic speaker Betty Brennan used to be a member of a Satanic cult in which all of their rituals were mock-Catholic ones, which must have included the worst of them all: Black Mass, which at least "traditionally" includes the desecration of the Eucharist in a most vile way, although I've read that sometimes unconsecrated hosts are used.
Not all Satanists steal or violate the Eucharist, however.

Re: Satanism and the Eucharist
There was a real problem with that in some of the local parishes through the 80s and 90s. I don't know if it is still going on here but it is real.

Thank you very much, if you do find something documented please let me know. Otherwise, anything I say will not be believed,

Re: Satanism and the Eucharist
I haven't heard of a case where a declared satanist tried to steal it. But the reports I saw/heard didn't go into much detail. Unfortunately, this is a real problem. I remember my priest bringing up this issue a few months. I particularly didn't find this surprising since he's a very popular priest (a Healing priest if I'm correct) and the Church is always packed when he's around.
But I heard from someone that if someone tries to use the Eucharist for ill-intent, the Sacred Host will disappear. Has anyone heard of this?

Onjac,
I don't think the host would disappear, no. Because once Jesus is substantially present in the Eucharist, he never leaves. However its interesting to think about.

I've not heard of this specifically but I was told as a child in CCD that satanists and wiccans can identify a consecrated Host from a pile of non-consecrated ones.

I remember this. They have already received their reward.

I think that would convert any would-be blasphemer quite readily, but yours is the first mention I've read of it.

I know that. I meant along the lines of the Eucharist vanishing before it could be desecrated.

Re: Satanism and the Eucharist
I know, this is what's making me crazy. We have all heard of Satanists and others taking the Eucharist but my friend has pointed out that without evidence, this will be perceived as just an urban...er Catholic legend. If I can prove this has happened however, it will be wonderful!! (not that Satanists have taken the Eucharist but that there is a reason to ponder the real presence)

The problem is that such satanists have long diminished in number and most modern Satanists are more likely those of the La Veyan stripe (a.k.a. juvenile atheists who wear black leather and just toy with symbols). To say that such atheists use a similar Black Mass is actually self-defeating (especially if your correspondent is also aware of La Veyan Satanism).
Look on the bright side. At least our Church still stands today. You can't say the same of the obscure satanic sets of medieval times.

Re: Satanism and the Eucharist
Have your protestant friend read the Gospel of John, chapter 6! After that if he would rather believe satanists than the Gospel then he's not much of a believer!
