Default Todays program (7/21/05) a rerun? Or am I crazy...?

I swear that I've heard this one before...can anyone back me up on this...?

Correct! As Jerry mentioned elsewhere we are having serious phone line troubles. Everybody's working onit but to no avail. We figured a Q&A with no Qs wouldn't much of a show. Send up some prayers and maybe the phone company will have us on-line for tomorrow(Friday).

CA essentially had a technology meltdown this month. Forum server(s) crashing, phone lines out, and our Internet connections down. Makes you wonder.

Makes sense, but why did you guys choose to rebroadcast last week? I mean... that's still fresh in our minds. Why not something from further back, so we can re-learn some stuff?

mySQL database is not meant for such a large project as this forum has become. Read the release notes:

MySQL Server was designed from the start to work with medium size databases (10-100 million rows, or about 100 MB per table) on small computer systems.

It doesn't say it won't work, just not that it wasn't designed to handle such large data. Server crashes can become more common as it grows.

Josh,

Our memories are not that good. Well, I'll speak only for myself. Couldn't remember too far back in our Thursday archives...i.e. did we mention something that was dated, etc.

We need an intern to go through all of our archives and find some "evergreen" shows that don't reference anything that's too terribly dated so we'll be ready for instances like what happened today.

And as "Big Water" (Erik Gustafson) suggested - pray for our phones!

Edwin, thanks for the holy water, but we tried that yesterday

Jerry

I know this is a little late for today's show, but I think it was suggested that a show be done using questions posted on CA Forums.

If there is still phone problems when Tuesday's Q/A with Karl/Tim comes around, it may be a good test of the idea.

There you go! WanderAimlessly, you hit the nail on the head. Maybe this is God's way of telling us that my wish to have an interactive section of the radio forum during live broadcasts is the way to go...hmmm...

P.S. I like your allusion to Tuesday's Q & A with "Karl/Tim"...each week, it's anybody's guess
