Project 86 when you're in a heavy mood, Switchfoot when you're in a radio rock mood or pretty much any of the bands Neildown listed.

If you want to go old school one of my favorites of all time is Social Distortion - When the Angel's Sing. Sorry I don't have any good suggestions for rap but hopefully you'll like one or two of these.

Re: Looking for a new song/music artist to listen to?
I'm definitely digging the new Sleigh Bells album - that's the name of the band, Sleigh Bells. Also, the new album by fun., and the song "We Are Young."
The Sleigh Bells song "End of The Line" is much mellower than the rest of the album. You can see the lead singer's tattoo of the Virgin Mary (her right arm) on the SNL clip.
And you've probably heard "We Are Young" without even knowing it, as the song's blowing up big time right now.

Another great Social Distortion song is "Angel's Wings," but be sure it's the classic acoustic version. The original album version isn't that good.

Re: Looking for a new song/music artist to listen to?
Rapper Fresh IE. The B.C. Catholic just published an article about him. His purpose is to bring the Gospel to aboriginal youth through rap. Rap's not my personal style, but lots of people seem to like it.

Joe Zambon is a great Catholic artist. He has a new album coming out next month which I'm really looking forward to.

Re: Looking for a new song/music artist to listen to?
Gavin Mikhail (I would recommend his original words. Not that his covers aren't good- far from it- but his compositions speak for themselves) and Janelle Monáe

If you like rap: Lecrae and Trip Lee are two really good artists!
