Catholic tattoos? Suggestions, thoughts.
Before I start, I am aware that not everyone agrees with tattoos, some have their own interpretations of specific Bible verses and previous Church teaching etc. I don't want this thread to turn into a debate about whether or not tattoos are permissable.
I want a Catholic tattoo. All of my tattoos so far have expressed life events and as its nearing the anniversary of my conversion I want a tattoo commemorating this, although I won't get it for another month at least as I like to "sit on" a definate idea, without changing it, for a few weeks.
Regarding my faith it has been something throughout my life that I have loved and misunderstood in equal measure. I haven't always been faithful, but it is something I hold close to me. God has been there for me throughout my life. If anyone has any ideas for me that would be brilliant, but I am really interested in hearing whether anyone here has had any religious-themed tattoos and their reasons for picking the image they chose.

I think that it would be a much more appropriate gift to commemorate your conversion if you took the money for the tattoo and gave it to charity. A lot less painful too.
Peace

I have a celtic cross on my left arm.It signifies two things for me faith of course and my Irish Mother. I got it when my best friend was diagnosed with cancer. She had intentions of getting a tattoo and before she could get it she was diagnosed.I got it for her. Your tattoo needs to come from your heart.Something that is only special to you.

How about a depiction of Saint Paul's conversion?

Exactly.
If you are absolutely set on getting a tattoo get something simple, a cross or Celtic cross (not too complicated).
Remember, you will get old (God willing). Muscles droop, skin sags, inks fade.
Do not get anything portraying a human figure, they go bad fastest.

I've always thought the traditional Ethiopian cross tattoo is pretty cool (although understandably you may not want it on your head )

Thank you, but I am aware of this. This tattoo will not be my 1st by a long shot.
I was thinking of getting a cross perhaps with rosary beads wrapped around them.

I don't have any tattoos but I've seen pictures of some rosaries that go around the ankle/foot that I thought looked really nice.

Leviticus 19:28 says: "Do not lacerate your bodies for the dead, and do not tattoo yourselves. I am the Lord."

I'm hoping to get one of these one day.
I've told myself if I finish my current degree on time (i.e. in August) then I'm going to get a tattoo of an angel carrying a lamb. It's an image that has personal resonance with me and signifies a lot that I've been through in my life, as well as looking towards the future

Leviticus says a lot of things. Like stoning people to death. Are you advocating that verse too? Why not?
