Re: Are you a liberal or a conservative?
I am Catholic. I am neither liberal or conservative, as both are liberal Enlightenment philosophies fundamentally opposed to Catholicism.
Any support I give a conservative is only the a manifestation of my opposition to an even worse liberal alternative.
People would say I'm conservative, though I dislike the label, because I do not identify with any popular political party or philosophy, and on a very basic level, there is very little I want to "conserve" of the status quo, and I'd much rather "progress" to a more Catholic future.

Re: Are you a liberal or a conservative?
I am neither and in the past year I have come to believe strongly that both major parties in the U.S., whether knowingly or unknowingly, with whatever degree of willingness, and however directly or indirectly, work for the Evil One. I don't know much beyond that but I do do a lot of speculating on the details (i.e., entertaining conspiracy theories) which is possibly a waste of time at best. I should focus more on my own spiritual life and let the Lord resolve the world's problems like He promised He would.

Re: Are you a liberal or a conservative?
I disagree strongly on many issues with people who call themselves liberal.
I don't grab the tag conservative for myself, I'm just trying to be Catholic.

Re: Are you a liberal or a conservative?
I am conservative when it comes to Catholic issues. I am liberal in the sense that I believe we need to help folks who NEED it. BUT I am conservative in believing that we must first have the funds in order to help. We should never run a deficit unless in dire emergency such as war or threat of depression.
I've voted in every election, BUT I have not voted for the winning presidential candidate ever (so far). In a few cases, I've left the presidental (or senate or governor) ballot blank. In some years, I've taken the stance that whoever is in, I'm voting against them. This is probably one of those years. It's probably been decades since I have actually voted for someone as opposed to voting against someone. For now, there is not one politician in either house or either party that I like. That's pretty sad.

There's less daylight between the two than most people think.
I identify as reactionary. I detest liberalism in all its forms, "modern" and "classical." The former is a natural development of the latter, and the latter arises from gross errors in thought. I detest everything which is a product of liberalism: democracy, capitalism, socialism, "rights" thinking, etc. etc.

Re: Are you a liberal or a conservative?
Depends on the issue. I'm pro-life, from conception until natural death, which means I'm opposed to abortion (conservative position) and opposed to capital punishment (liberal position). I'd like to see Obamacare repealed (conservative), but I also think taxes should be raised across the board (liberal). I vote Republican, though, because I feel their policies are less detrimental.

I am a heavy conservative, and hold close to those values, as they coordinate well with my religious beliefs.

Re: Are you a liberal or a conservative?
I am a proud conservative, pro-life to the extreme, and believe that everyone should have an equal opportunity to better themselves (which does not guarantee equal outcome), that the government should back off and leave me alone and let ME take care of me. I know what's best for me and for my family. And I will help my neighbors get back on their feet if they need assistance. Don't put a [proverbial] gun to my head and force me to do so.

Let's get back to the primitive roots of Christianity- hermits and saints wandering through the desert....
Politically, I am so conservative I don't believe in capitalism, fiat currency, the independence of the USA, etc..

Nice.
Have I discovered a fellow Loyalist?

Personally I live a rather conservative existence. Politically liberal though. Spiritually a mainline - liberal Christian heart.

Vote for the party closest to God; vote for the party that opposes abortion and contraception. That is all we can do.

Re: Are you a liberal or a conservative?
Liberal when it comes to aid to those who truly cannot help themselves. Conservative when it comes to middle class welfare and welfare for the super-wealthy. Conservative when it comes to social issues.
Understanding, of course, that the terms "liberal" and "conservative" are not precise.

Exactly how our founding fathers envisioned our country. Somewhere we have gone far off track.
