Not true in the Middle East???? Are you kidding? My sister-in-law, who is Muslim and lives in Saudi Arabia, is so restricted in everything she does it's like she lives in another century! She can't drive, can't go out in public unless escorted by a male member of her family, can't be in a public place with a male unless it's her husband, father or brother and if she dared to publicly voice an opinion that dissented from accepted Saudi norms she would likely be jailed! And as far as no other religions trying to hurt homosexuals, are you not aware of the homosexuals that have been hung in Iran because of their sexuality?
Contest Christianity all you like, but be honest in your evaluations of other faiths as well. We may teach that homosexuality is sinful but we won't try to have you put to death for it.

Since the Pill came out abortion rates have rose dramatically. Isn't the Pill supposed to lower abortions?
I think this is for women not taking the pill, not women taking the pill.
After the Pill divorces skyrocketed. Men don't have to be there for the woman know, does that sound liberating to you.
I do believe it is the other way around; Women had the freedom to leave bad, unhealthy marriages--liberating!
Woman are more objectified than ever. and people in general are used, including men.
Now cause of the pill I can sleep with any woman I want and I can leave the next day. That does NOT lead to a better society.
LOL! You can? Just because a woman is on the pill, it doesn't mean she's going to sleep with any man out there.
Also in a study Women who were career oriented, single, and identified with how you may see a "feminist" reported that even after all that they were able to do they were unhappy.
But so do many married mothers who never gave themselves time to follow through on their other talents, etc. Those ones have been unfulfilled for centuries!
A Women comes home says shes in the mood, guy says oh honey I couldn't wait so Phoenix Marie set me up all right? Now is that really conductive to a marriage?
??? Not understanding this one...
There is no place around that gives more respect to women than the Catholic Church. Remember St.Paul said "men love your wives as Christ loved his Church".
Is Paul the one who said that women should not be allowed to speak at all in church??

Re: Why do athiests hate Christians but not other religious people?
I don't think atheists hate Christians....I just think the debate about God and such may be more vocal between the two groups.
And I think that might be because...there is a strong element of "converting" regarding Christians...a feeling that many are always trying to convert you.
Whereas I rarely get someone who is Jewish or Buddhist or Muslim, for example, trying to convert me to their religion. There is much more of a feeling of "to each their own" there to me and I'll believe what I believe while you do the same and I'm not going to interfere with you.
So my guess is there is a feeling of...being pushed. And that causes others who don't agree--to push back.

Athiests hate Christians because they think differently.
When we are little we are taught to scorn and doubt anybody who thinks "differently" than the norm.
When we are big we get really good at it.

Re: Why do athiests hate Christians but not other religious people?
It is my opinion that atheists feel threatened by Christianity for one of two reasons.
1. Christianity is far more prevalent in Western culture and most atheists haven't been exposed to much of Judaism or Islam.
2. We actually put up pretty good philosophical arguments for our beliefs.
For those more into "New Atheism," I think my second point applies more.
For those armchair atheists who don't have much of a reason for atheism other than laziness or contempt, I think the first point applies more.
