Operating System: Macintosh System 7.6.1
Web Browser: Netscape Communicator 4.0.8
Connected to internet via ethernet cable
Computer is complete with 640x480 display, ADB keyboard and single-button mouse, and StyleWriter II printer. I have to say, kudos to the web developers who wrote a fully functional Catholic Answers forums page that still runs (albeit a bit slowly) under Netscape Communicator 4.0.8.
The reason this is so exciting is because this computer and all its hardware as well as the operating system were released on or before 1996 and I am still able to use them on a regular basis for schoolwork, etc. I love the old-school feel of it.

The .4gb is a bit odd, but I'm sure there are servers that can have that much RAM. My computer can read (and has slots for) up to 64gb of RAM.

Re: What kind of computer are you posting here from?
Hello,
I use a Mac-mini (OS 10.6.8). There was only one year where they made a Mini that can't upgrade to 10.7, and I had to buy one of them...

If you Google the following:
Dell 74.4 gb
You will get several results showing listing the configuration of older Dell computers. Here is one, for the sake of example.
http://www.amazon.com/Dell-Vostro-20.../dp/B0051BIP9Q
74.4 gigabytes seems to have been a somewhat common hard drive size for older Dell computers. I wonder if that is what he meant?

It has been a while since I've dealt with an HDD that small, but you're probably right. 74.4gb of RAM is a huge amount for someone running XP, and only one of the eight versions (64 bit professional) can read that amount.

How do you have that much RAM?! Are you sure you don't mean the size of the hard drive?

Re: What kind of computer are you posting here from?
I usually post from my Macbook Pro. It has a 250GB hdd, 4 GB RAM, a 512 MB vid card and is the 15" screen version.
It has been doing well for me since 2008. I have used laptops as my main machine since '96. I dual boot this puppy with Linux, which I have also been using since '96.
It is really cool to see that some people are still getting use out of tech that is over a decade old. Some things those machines did back then they still can do about as well... IRC and Forums are some of them

Re: What kind of computer are you posting here from?
Lenovo Thinkpad T61 laptop - if you want a used laptop I recommend very much a thinkpad (except if you want long battery life)
Windows Vista (I've used 7 at school and there's barely a difference)
Firefox with all the privacy additions like AdBlock, Foxyproxy, NoScript and HTTPS everywhere. Firefox is the best browser for privacy-conscious persons.
This should last me until 2017 when vista support runs out. Then I might just run this on Linux. It's indestructible.
Users with chrome or IE might want to try out Do Not Track Plus, which claims to block data mining companies from tracking you.
