Re: Salary of a Catholic high school teacher in Illinois? Ballpark figure please.
I'm sorry that I cannot answer specifically about what a CHS teacher makes in Illinois. I can tell you that here in New York's suburbs, they would start somewhere in the range of $35,000-$40,000. However, this area has a high cost of living so bear that in mind.
This answer may be tricky to find, anyway, because you should expect to see wide variation even within Illinois. I mean, you should expect the salaries in Cook County to be leaps and bounds above what you would make in, say, Winchester.
I hope that others have better answers for you.

Which ballpark would you like that figure from? Cubs? White Sox? Cardinals? Brewers? Twins? Tigers?

Between $28-34,000. Mostly toward the lower end of that. Most dioceses allow the schools to negotiate higher salaries for certain in-demand certifications like sciences.

depends on location, Chicago would be much higher salary, but cost of living is also higher.

As a rule of thumb Catholic teachers usually make about 1/2 to 2/3's what a public school teacher makes.

I don't know the answer to your question, but I think you would need to specify what part of Illinois. I am sure that a Catholic high school teacher in a well-to-do Chicago suburb will be paid more than a Catholic high school teacher in a small town in a mostly rural part of the state, far from Chicago, St. Louis, or other big cities. I suspect it also would depend on what subject(s) you teach and how much experience you have.

According to the National Association of Catholic School Teachers, average starting salary for a teach in the Jiolet diocese is ~$28,000 and more experienced teachers may make as much as $48,000. This is slightly less than that average starting salary of non-Catholics schools.
