Default I'm Convinced the Devil is Attacking Me, Please Pray for me?

Hi Everyone,

I'm new to these forums. I must say I've had a rather strange and complicated life and a tough personality as well.

The reason I'm posting is because I'm seriously convinced that I've been under attack during the last few weeks and even right now. My last confession was a couple hours ago, and since then I have sinned many times.

I live abroad and it also took me more than two weeks to arrange this confession, now It's wasted. I have tried praying, but I keep getting tempted, masturbation, porn among others, also I have tried reading, praying, praying the rosary but nothing works as my mind cannot even concentrate on prayer, I'm also beginning to like these sins, (which I never did, and dont want to)

I do not know what to do, as I cannot even pray, I'm looking at my altar, at my icons, st. michael statue, cross etc and even that doesnt help me to concentrate.

Also the only priest I know who speaks english is avoiding me, my friends are avoiding me, and last night I was attacked by my stepfather this never happened before, (I moved to this place with my parents, I'm 21), My health has also declined drastically in the last two weeks, as I said I also cannot seem to stop sinning, for now.

Please pray for me, any advise would be appreciated as well, Also considering all this, will it be ok if I go for communion tomorrow, I do not know what else to do?

Thanks,
Kieron

Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle.
Be our safeguard against the wickedness and snares of the Devil.
And do thou, oh prince of the heavenly host,
cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits
who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls.
Amen.

Unplug your computer and go for a hard run outside, if you can. Then perhaps sit in a church until you feel calm again.

I'm reading a book called "Humility of Heart" and the author says that God-inspired sorrow for sin is calm and peaceful, because it accepts that we are capable of even worse sin if not for the grace of God, and that love us in our unworthiness. Anguished feelings are the result of pride: being surprised that we've sin because we thought we were better than that, and thinking (unconsciously) that before we commited that sin we had been "good enough" for God to love us.

I found it to be a very helpful meditation and preparation for confession. I'll pray for you.

Try saying these prayers:

--

Saint Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle.
Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray;
and do Thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host -
by the Divine Power of God -
cast into hell, satan and all the evil spirits,
who roam throughout the world seeking the ruin of souls.
Amen.

And in Latin:

Sáncte Míchael Archángele, defénde nos in proélio, cóntra nequítiam et insídias diáboli ésto præsídium. Ímperet ílli Déus, súpplices deprecámur: tuque, prínceps milítiæ cæléstis, Sátanam aliósque spíritus malígnos, qui ad perditiónem animárum pervagántur in múndo, divína virtúte, in inférnum detrúde. Ámen

--

"Lord Jesus Christ, Son Of God, Have Mercy On Me, A Sinner" (repeat)

--

One I made up myself:

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, Save Me
Holy Mary, Mother Of God, Pray For Me
Holy St Michael, Prince Of The Heavenly Host, Defend Me.

(repeat)

Which can be shortened to:

Lord Jesus Christ, Save Me
Holy Mary, Pray For Me
(Holy) St Michael, Defend Me.

(repeat)

--

One can also imagine the evil thoughts and feelings as things and imagine them being burnt with fire to nothingness or crumbling into dust and disappearing into the ground. It's important you don't imagine real people, living or dead.

I expected this to be in the Prayer Intentions section, and I will pray an Our Father, a Hail Mary, and the prayer to St. Michael for you (possibly more later).

Since it's not in the Prayer Intentions section though, I'll also mention that pornography and demonic activity do seem to be connected. Not that I can tell from this post (or in any other way probably; I'm not pretending I'm any kind of expert) whether you are dealing with truely demonic activity or whether the problem is more natural in origin.

In any case, prayer and the sacraments and staying in a state of grace will be the best thing to focus on right now. It's a shame the only English speaking priest available to you is avoiding you. Perhaps if he understood the situation he would be willing to council you? Very few priests would be unwilling to help you in any way they could if you approached them humbly, at an appropriate time, and said you needed help and advice. Ultimately there are such things as exorcists in the Church, not just for demonic possession (which is very rare) but for lesser, more common kinds of demonic attacks/attachments, but I cannot tell if this would be at all needed in your case.

As for receiving communion, the main question, since I assume you are Catholic and believe everything we are required to believe about the Eucharist, is have you committed a (plausibly) mortal sin since your last confession? If you have, get to confession as soon as practicable, and receive communion after, not before, you have done this. If you have not committed a mortal sin, then by all means receive communion.

Thanks for the replies and prayers everyone, I guess my best option is to try and schedule another confession as soon as possible. I am still unable to pray, which is kind of strange but I will try my best and wait for my next confession.

The Miraculous Medal was given to us by Mary as a sign of her protection and help. It is so simple to get, and be blessed, and then wear. "Great graces" were promised to those who trust her for them and pray to her. Whenever tempted, hold the medal, and ask Mary for one
of those "great graces" and she will never refuse you if you believe she will keep her
very own words. It's Mary's guarantee of GREAT graces if you TRUST her absolutely.
She also requested that it be given to everyone to wear. It is her gift you.

Pray the rosary. There have been so many testominies of people who have had their spiritual problems solved with praying Mary's rosary faithfully. Without a routine of prayer it is nearly impossible to stay away from sin, for it is so easy to sin. Mary even said that if we don't pray we are missing out on graces which are only given thru prayer.

Here is a great site for explaining how to remain pure.

So in conclusion, do all these things faithfully, and the miracle of purity and integrity becomes yours.

We must take responsibility for our actions. There are three basic temptations: The world, the flesh and the devil. We can't blame everything on the devil. However, the devil can tempt us to despair after we have given in to temptations from the world or the flesh. "Well, you've already sinned, you might as well do it again" "You are so weak you will never overcome this habit" etc...Don't listen to such temptations. With God's grace it is possible to overcome sinful addictions. Regarding whether or not you should receive Communion, I would suggest that until you can get the proper counseling that you need from a good confessor, you could make spiritual communions until you can go to confession again. Perhaps this will require being patient with your confessor. Also, I believe the way to get the quickest results in time of temptation is to pray to our Blessed Mother. You may want to also call upon St Michael the Archangel but some have learned the secret of getting the quickest results is to pray The "Hail Mary".

Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to say thanks again for all advise, help, prayers etc. I have called a few parishes and spoken whatever words I know of this language and I have managed to Find a rather old priest, who was involved on missions in different places.

He knows english and I have arranged a confession with him later, hopefully he can advise me as well, I hope it goes well and that I can fix myself.

Thanks again for all your help,
Kieron

Dear Brother: I would suggest trying forming friendships w/ mature Catholics. You are not alone in these struggles .Sometimes simple prayers are best. God knows your heart and as long as these things are displeasing to you , He knows you want to be close to Him. Never despair of the Mercy of God. May the Lord come to your aid now and give you Peace. Mary Mother most merciful , pray for us ! Yours in Christ, Carlos de la Pedraja

Go to the Father and ask for His help in the name of Jesus - over and over. Jesus didn't leave us alone as orphans - we have His Mighty Holy Spirit, so we can turn to our Father for help anytime we need it. Trust our Father, he will always pulls you through.

As Christians, we are loved unconditionally by our Father in heaven (no matter how sinful we are). He wants you to turn to Him at all times - no matter how sinful and full of awful temptations you are. You don't have to be perfectly clean to talk to Him, you can be full of filth and He will listen to you and help you - I know this from experience.
