Its been a stormy day and night here
It has been a really stormy day here today and tonight. We have already had two thunderstorms. Both of them were fairly strong but only one of them was severe. The severe one knocked out our power which stayed off for just over an hour. We have another set of storms headed our way too and it appears to be strengthening. Please keep us in your prayers that we would be safe.

Re: Its been a stormy day and night here
You are not all that far from tornado territory, are you?
Our Father, Who art in heaven,
Hallowed be Thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come.
Thy Will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. Amen.
Hail Mary,
Full of Grace,
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit
of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
pray for us sinners now,
and at the hour of death.
Amen.
Glory be to the Father,
and to the Son,
and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning,
is now,
and ever shall be,
world without end.
Amen.

Dear Lord,
Please take good care of Holly3278 and her community as they ride out the storms that come their way. May they trust in you and find comfort in their reliance on your goodness. Amen.

Tornadoes definitely happen in the Evansville IN area.

But straight line winds, which can reach hurricane force, can also be destructive. Last year, a home in my neighborhood was struck by a falling tree last year. Although no one was seriously injured, it toppled the fireplace chimney, smashed the plate glass picture window, and left three gaping holes in the roof.
A falling tree or debris hurtled by the wind, whether straight line or cyclonic, can be fatal if someone is not sheltered.
May the Lord protect Holly, and all of us, from storms during the coming year.

From one who lives an area whose name translates from the local native American name for "land of the evil spirits" - due to high winds, I concur. I currently have a 25 foot "widow maker" (snapped off tree top) suspended over my driveway, cradled in the branches of a maple. The tip of it is 18" from a 7,200 volt power line, so the power company will have to handle that one.
