Default Re: Very Uncomfortable Mass; Liturgical Abuse?

Billy,

Ironically Jesuit Preists should be like the marine's of the preisthood but Ive seen this before myself.

I know thats a blanketed statement and only pertains to my small corner of the world and Its certainlly not my intention to say all Jesuit Preists dont abide by church rules with in the mass but I have witnessed it in my small corner of the world. During a mass which included electric guitar drums etc... and as the preist clapped and moved around on the santuary steps to the beat he proudly exlaimed he was of Jesuit order (which caught me surprise) I might add.

I now go to a Latin Mass where there is no loud music, holding hands, people throwing the orans posture back up to the preist, extra ordinary ministers giving out blessings and passing out the Eucharist.

I am Catholic and if I wanted a church service where I could jump around clap and laugh I would join the baptist of penticostals.

Liken the church to the company you work for. Most fortune 500 companies have rules, procedures, attendance and dress codes in place to be successful if everyone worked the way the felt like working it would be chaos. Probably not much work would be done and the company would fold.

Indeed, they should be, but so many times, they aren't. A marine fulfills the missions and commands entrusted to him with absolute precision, and would certainly never slack off, or change it because he thinks he know better.

Every priest is given and accepts the following mission at his ordination, jesuit or not:
Are you resolved to celebrate the mysteries of Christ faithfully and religiously as the Church has handed them down to us. R/ I am.
See that? "as the Church has handed them down to us" not "as you wish to" or "as the Church has handed them down, with 'pastoral adaptations' ".

They need to take up this mission. It is one I must say that they've utterly failed at as a whole for the last 50 years.
