Rest in Peace Carroll Shelby
A dear friend of my late husband's, and mine, has passed away. An automotive genius from many sides of the sport, he has passed away. May he rest in peace.

Re: Rest in Peace Carroll Shelby
He is a US automotive legend, perhaps best known for designing the Cobra sports car, which in the early 1960s was the fastest production model car, and also for transforming the 1960s Mustang from a sedate "secretary's car" into a rival to the Corvette.
After running an African safari business in the 1970s and 80s, he returned to Detroit to design the Viper sports car for Chrysler. He remained active in sports car design up to his death at age 89.

Inducted into the Automotive Hall of Fame in 1992, Shelby worked in recent years as a technical adviser on the Ford GT project and designed the Shelby Series 1 two-seat muscle car, a 21st century clone of his 1965 Cobra. His 2013 Shelby GT500 has the most powerful production V-8 engine in the world — at 662 horses — and a top speed of more than 200 miles per hour. It is arriving in dealerships now.

And don't forget that he is the only American to win the F1 world championship. He excelled in all he did.

Very cool. I have had a very interesting life, following husband from place to place wherever his work took him. He raced sports car in his younger days and I drove in autocrosses and hill climbs. Now that was cool.
