I guess that means I grew up multilingual.

It's a bit of both. Whatever my accent lets me. I don't usually pay attention, so when I find myself saying it I'll come and tell you

That's how I pronounce it if I'm not careful multilingual upbringing too!
Now I'm craving some "peekin" spinwheels

I sometimes pronounce it "corrugated nut."
I must confess that "walnut" sounds exactly the same.

This is fun!!! Thank you for adding!!
Too funny - glad I added the third option!! It was a very last second add, because I don't really say it one way or the other myself.
I say some variant of PEE-can --- 5 years in North Carolina did that to my Midwestern accent I guess.

Re: A serious poll ---> PEE-can or p' CAHN
Okay, I caught myself.
It's pee-caan, when alone. When adding it to something, it's more p'can, not cahn.

Re: A serious poll ---> PEE-can or p' CAHN
I don't know that I am very consistent.
Well, the second syllable is always CAHN. But I sometimes accent the first syllable, I sometimes put equal accent on both syllables, and I sometimes say, P'CAHN.
So, PEE cahn, PEE CAHN, or p'CAHN,
