Meet and Greet # 89
Welcome to CAF!

Tell us a little about yourself.
For newcomers, just click the "Post Reply" button located just above this message. A "post reply" editor will then appear. Type your message and hit the "Submit Reply" button.
Feel free to then wander around and check things out.
Again, thanks for joining us here at Catholic Answers Forums.
May God bless you and yours,
........................................
By the way...this is not a question and answer thread so please do not post questions in this thread, as they will generally go unanswered.
This is merely where you introduce yourself to the community.
p.s., Want to start a new conversation ("thread") or ask a question? Here's how it's done: - Find a forum that covers your topic. There's a list on CAF's home page.
- Enter the forum by clicking its name. You'll then see a list of conversations or topics (called "threads" in forum-speak).
- Look for the "New Thread" button at the top of this list. Click it to start your own topic.
- You will then see a standard text editor. Just enter a title and a description of what you want to talk about. Click "submit" and you're all done.
p.p.s, the earlier Meet and Greet #88 is located here.

Re: Meet and Greet # 89
Thank You for the welcome. I am a Catholic convert who joined the church in 2003. My inspiration for doing so was Pope John Paul II. Looking forward to spiritual growth and fellowship here. Pax Christi , Joel

Re: Meet and Greet # 89
Hello, I am JK from Exeter in Devonshire, England, UK.
I'm a born Catholic aged 57 and work as a Cabbie.
I have a wife, Debbie, aged 47 and 2 Daughters, Amy, aged 25 and Alice aged 13.
I am disillusioned by the lack of emphasis on maintaining the Faith of our Youth in our locality - the lifeblood of the future of our Church. No Catholic School or Youth Groups for over 11 year olds exists in our City. Our Church seems to be dying both metaphorically and literally. Youngsters and their families seem to go through the rituals of Baptism, Holy Communion and Confirmation only to disappear later. The influx of Eastern European, Indian and Filipino Communities which I thought would lead to more labourers in the field has not manifested. Separate groups lead separate lives - there seems no genuine desire for integration.
Through the catalyst of contact at my youngest daughter's High School (Anglican) It is no wonder my Girls now attend an Anglican Church 15 miles from Exeter in Cullompton. It has a vibrant Church community and places so much emphasis on maintaining and developing the faith of its Youth that my Girls do not wish to remain in the Catholic Church, I cannot believe it is a scandal for them to share their Faith with the Protestant Church. If any scandal exists it is that we can be complacent about the loss of Youth through inertia within our Catholic Community.
Blessings, JK

Hello Jazzie_Kabbie in Devonshire, England
Welcome!!
You are not alone in some of the things you see happening in
terms of the church around the world, JK, however, changes will
come so hold onto your hope. The Lord is still in the boat .
This is the Meet and Greet board at Catholic Answers and not
much discussion takes place here but if you like, you can begin
posting in the many Forums...
http://forums.catholic.com/index.php as this will give you an opportunity
to join in on discussions already taking place or to post new Threads
in any of the Forums so that you can express the things that are on your mind
and in your heart in terms of the Church and this will generate new discussion.
We look forward to having you with us and to your participation in the
many resources here at Catholic Answers, JK.
Make yourself at home !!
God Bless You and Your Family.
Shalom,
Catherine

Hello Sarah!
I am sorry you are feeling so frightened. If you click on this link to the Catholic Living Forum......
http://forums.catholic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=66
When it comes up, click on the Family Life and when this comes up, click on Forum Tools, a list will drop down, click on Post a New Thread, a page will come up, give it a title ( Frightened or Needing to talk to someone) write a brief message and send it. This will now appear as a new Thread (discussion) in the Family Life Forum and others will respond to it.
I hope this will be helpful for you.
God Bless You, Sarah.
Catherine
