NFP Marquette Method Cost

Hello all,

We are looking for other couples who use the marquette method. We would like to learn if for if we decide that we need to use some sort of family planning. We don't mind the initial start up cost of purchasing the monitor, but we are wondering about the long term cost for test strips.

Is there a way to buy them discounted in bulk, do you use them all month every month?

Any information would be helpful! Thanks!

We've been looking into it... not sure if we want to spend the money on it.

For strips, I believe we'd use them until we had a positive indication of ovulation, then not again until the next cycle. So for us, for example, it would be 14-18 or so strips a month.

I haven't looked at the prices yet, but we will probably use it after my wife is not pregnant anymore. Whatever it costs is certainly cheaper than having another baby...

We spend about $10-15 per month on the sticks, depending on how many I need. (They come in a package of 30, so I use anywhere from 1/3 to 1/2 of them per month.) For the first few cycles, the monitor will ask you to test beginning on day 6 of the cycle, and then it adjusts to your cycle and might ask you starting a few days later, if your cycle is a little longer than 28 days.

A few days after you ovulate, you stop testing until the next cycle, so you don't need to use them every day each month.
