Re: How long did it take you to get pregnant?
My first was a complete shock...we weren't even married . I was really naive about tracking your cycle and we weren't contracepting. The second was also a shock. I was 10mo postpartum and hadn't had a period, so I (again naively) didn't think I could get pregnant.

Re: How long did it take you to get pregnant?
On a more serious note...not long at all. Our first is our honeymoon souvenir. We were young and dumb and didn't realize that things like that could actually happen on our honeymoon. Each of the other 3 times, it has been on the first month we tried. Sometimes, I wish it would have taken at least 2 cycles to get it right so the fun isn't over in one week...But, my wife is what you might call a Fertile Myrtle... and I thank God for that.

Re: How long did it take you to get pregnant?
It took us over 4 years to get pregnant (started trying on our wedding night). We have been trying for number 2 since our daughter was born almost 2 years ago and still nothing. After many doctor visits/tests there was/is nothing physically wrong with us, it just doesn't seem to happen quickly for us for whatever reason. I feel we were meant to wait for our first though (she came at the "perfect" time for us) and if we are blessed with a second child we will definitely be overjoyed!

Re: How long did it take you to get pregnant?
None of the answers really work for my wife & I. With our oldest daughter we found out we were pregnant within 3 weeks of deciding to try. Our second daughter was on the first try. A family member had told us they were expecting. On the way home we thought it would be fun to have our next about the same time they had theirs. A few days later we got a positive reading. With the baby we lost, we'd been contracepting off and on since we were married (poor catechism, bad advice from family, friends, priests & doctors), but had stopped due to my wife's health concerns. We weren't ready for another baby but were open to the idea. I'd heard how unreliable the rhythm method was, so we figured that was our best bet. We were pretty faithful to it for a year or so. Since that didn't work (as in, we didn't "accidentally" get pregnant), we started adhering to it less and less strictly. After almost another year, when that still didn't work, we went with the "do it every day but still let on that we're trying to avoid" method. It still took a couple months. With our next daughter it took three months. With our latest, we knew we wanted another right away but my wife was breastfeeding so it took nearly a year. Within a few days of her weaning our second-youngest, we were expecting again. So our track record is a week or two, first try, nearly 2.5 years, three months and either 11+ months or a couple days, depending on how you count it.

Re: How long did it take you to get pregnant?
My two were both "surprise! You won the birth control failure rate lottery!" and I couldn't be happier.
However, now that I'm actually happily married and I want to have a baby on purpose with my husband ... a baby has not been forthcoming for the last 3 years. I guess God has a sense of humor!
(Note: Our lack of success doesn't REALLY bother me because we already have the two girls, and I've already done the pregnancy / childbirth thing, but my husband REALLY wants to have the experience of having a baby with his wife (not that he loves our girls any less!), and so I want a baby along with him. If that makes sense.)

Re: How long did it take you to get pregnant?
I only voted for how long it took with our first, which was about 15 months.
After DD1 was born, we got pregnant about 8 months later, but lost that baby to miscarriage. From then until conceiving DS, it took 18 months.
When DS was 7 months old, I had one cycle and we were pregnant with DD2.

Re: How long did it take you to get pregnant?
Pregnancy #1 was a surprise. #2 was after five months of trying. #3 was after five months of trying. #4 was 3 months after I finally had a D&C and was given the green light to try. The last one, the three months felt like, by far the longest...

Re: How long did it take you to get pregnant?
Mine was also (to quote AthenaC) a "surprise! You won the birth control failure rate lottery!" but I was happy none the less and can hardly wait to be married so that she can have some brothers and sisters. Although I hope she has at least one sister cuz I have always wanted a little sister myself but instead got stuck with 2 brothers.

Re: How long did it take you to get pregnant?
We got pregnant in the second month of trying. I have friends who tried for 6 - 12 months, but they had been on hormonal birth control for 5+ years and admit that they probably had trouble getting pregnant because (1) they didn't know their cycles as well as someone who had been charting for years and (2) residual chemicals in their systems.

Pretty much the same for me "early" honeymoon and first possible cycle each time, but we are all different so OP please try to relax.

Re: How long did it take you to get pregnant?
My first took 8 months (not really actively trying), second was a surprise, and third took 3 months with charting.

Re: How long did it take you to get pregnant?
The first one was a honeymoon baby, we found out that our charting is very reliable and accurate but not if you leave the chart at home. The second was the first cycle but we lost him. The third was also the first cycle. I guess we're just good at that.
