Default If not a special forum for sex talk in general,

Then how about one for LGBT issues?

This seems to be an increasing problem all over the forum.

Is there anything that can be done?

Given how traditional and conservative this forum can be, I'd think a dedicated subset for LGBT is more likely than one for sex talk, since arguably you can discuss culture, politics, relationships, and faith with respect to LGBT and sustain a topic without diverging into prurient issues. That may be much harder to do on a sex-related topic site. Also, if you think of the issues that we ought to be discussing related to sex, they fall under existing topics such as dating, marriage, family life, contraception, culture, etc.

So I think a dedicated LGBT sub-forum may be a possibility.

Increasing? It's gotten to a third of the threads in Moral Theology about homosexuality before...

Looking at the first page of Moral Theology, which for me shows 40 threads, I see two which concern homosexuality. And, if you include transgender topics, as TheRealJuliane suggested, there would be another two threads. So we are talking, at most, 10% of current threads in Moral Theology.

Granted, that is a higher figure than I might have expected when I first arrived here. However, the people of CAF have always obsessed about sexual issues. I am not sure why that is. However, I think creating a special forum would not make matters any better. If anything, it might encourage such threads and I don't think there is anything to gain by that.

Call me crazy but every single topic that could or should be discussed about this has already been beaten to death. In my opinion any and all further discussion of this topic should simply be banned.

IMHO, it's fine. This is a place for people to get Catholic Answers to their questions, and until catechesis improves, people are going to have questions about sexual morality.

But these threads are not limited to Moral Theology. They show up in nearly every subforum. Sometimes due to provocation, good Catholic forum members who have been here for years, are banned through interaction with pro-homosexual members, many of whom seem to be new to the forum.

If there was a dedicated LGBT sub forum, then these people could chat amongst themselves and whoever wanted to go in and interact with them would be welcome to do so. And all the other forums could ban the topic so we wouldn't have to deal with it over...and over...and over...etc.

I think we skew young or political, both of which would lend to more talk on sexuality.

People still prefer to talk through topics even where they can easily reference other threads. I think it has to do with how we think - whether you think out loud or think in internal conversations, there's something in banter that helps us. Hopefully.

I came here to find out about how my Catholic father thinks so that I can try to mend our relationship since he stopped talking to me after I came out as transgender. I have found some good advice on this forum, and some hatred. I'm not here to offend any Catholic folks, I respect the Church and its followers, despite what disagreements I have. I basically just wanted to learn more about Catholic logic. There aren't even many transgender threads on the forum. I don't understand how those few threads are so difficult to avoid for some people.

Different people have different issues they want to discuss, perhaps their frustration is better understood when looked at from their perspective. Some people want to talk about life issues most (abortion, death penalty, etc.), and they get frustrated when all the buzz is elsewhere. Or with people who focus on fighting poverty, or immigration reform, or culture and morality, etc...

I think the most productive things one can do is be patient, and be engaging and charitable in the threads in which one is interested, as it will help engender interest in discussing that topic/thread.
