Best Catholic Poets living today
Hi,
Do any of you know of any good Catholic poets who are living and still writing poetry today? I want to start writing more poetry, in fact a series of poems in honor of the Holy Trinity and the three Persons relationship to the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Church, and I want to get to know the prominent Catholic poets who are still writing original poetry today. If you know of any either Private Message me or post on this thread. I suppose you can mention deceased Catholic poets too, but most of them I am already aware of. I am looking for Catholic poets still alive and writing in this present time. Also, if you know of any organizations or societies of Catholic poets or artists of any kind, please let me know. I would like to find an organization of Catholic poets or artists which I could join, support or collaborate with. Is there any such organization in existence? If not, please pray that myself or someone else will start one. But please pray that I meet other Catholic poets and artists, so that we can all collaborate and encourage each other, to spread the Gospel using the beauty of poetry and other forms of artwork.
Thank you and God bless all,
Joshua

Dana Gioia
Denise Levertov
It's been a while since I've read Paul Mariani, but look into him.

Sure, I know one... me! lol J/k. I'm a pretty third-rate poet in my own estimation, but I try. But you could join our little group, "Poems and Reflections".. it's right over there ---> (edit: I just checked and noticed you're already a member. So why aren't you participating? )
Also, there is a poet named Mary Karr who recently converted to Catholicism. She has a book of poetry named, "Sinners Welcome." However, she is not completely "orthodox" (i.e. I don't think she accepts all of the Church's teaching) and she does not always refrain from using profanity or lewd material in her poems. If you can handle that, she's incredibly gifted. Her poems about the incarnation are powerful.

Try this book, edited by Regis Martin.
Garlands of Grace: An Anthology of Great Christian Poetry (Ignatius Press, 2001)
Mostly poets of old--I remember Hopkins, Chesterton, Belloc--but lovely and inspiring.
