I thank her daily that she has helped me put my own life back together and we've gotten our marriage back to a far more healthy place like the way it was when we first started this journey.

So I'm not trying to assert some kind of supremacy over others in how I've executed the charge Christ has given me because I have fallen tremendously short of it for too long. Sadly I clearly knew what the vocation of marriage was all about from the start and along the way I allowed the distraction of the world and the temptation of sin to nearly tear us apart. Makes me quite a bit worse than those who didn't really know what they were doing. I am quite fortunate that my wife helped me return to God fully as it has helped us repair ourselves as well.
life is a long journey...God bless.

But for what it's worth, St Paul doesn't teach that women should all submit to their husbands, and neither does the Church. But rather, the teaching is that each spouse has to submit to each other.

One of the posters here did a really good job of addressing this on the very first page of this thread:
Actually the man is the head of the woman, and God is the head of Christ. Some arrogant men take that to the extreme, but there is a functional hiearchy.

Let's try that again Johnny! You might want to amend your post to read that the husband is the head of the wife. not that man is the head of the women. That functional hierachy is only commanded within the marriage.

In marriage, yes.

I agree very much. Even though I am someone who loves being a wife/mom, the vibe here in many threads is not flattering and in fact hurts my faith, not builds it up.

I love and respect women but I think some women interpret the traditional view held by men as "anti woman". Some men take it to far by saying a woman needs to stay home which is so antiquated it not worth discussing.

Woman must remember that many men were taught to view woman as the "weaker sex". Society for ages has encouraged that and sometimes still does. I think the biggest dillema for men is seperating the social world with the work world. Many women want the chivelry connected to dating or marriage but in the work environment men must abandon their innate or taught views towards women.

I have had to change my outlook on women in the last 10 years. I have seen women do almost any job men can do, and make sure I stick up for them when they need an advocate. I know it's been a hard road for women, but outside of the real male knuckleheads, many guys are genuinely trying to have newer balanced view of women, while still being men. Most importantly though, although this modern era has caused a sometimes unbalanced perspective on the sexes, we are Christian men and women, and that is where we should differ from the world in how we interact. Peace.

None of the Catholic men I know are like some of the few here. You'll be perfectly fine.

You're responding to a post from page #5 of a 30+ page thread. This issue has already been addressed and put to rest. Please see post # 129 here: http://forums.catholic.com/showthrea...=686267&page=9

And stick to the current posts and discussion. Thank you.

Agreed 100%. And I too will leave this thread, as it has also become an anti-women thread.

Thank you to The Bucket, AngryAtheist, VeritasLuxMae, and Crescentinus for your contributions and for protecting our dignity as human beings equal in greatness to all the rest of you.
