NOTIFICATIONS problem.....

I keep getting the alert that I have 3 notifications. I click on that and it goes to
" Group Messages Waiting Approval ". I click on that and it just goes to
" Social Groups ".
I have not changed or done anything different, this just started on it's own
about a week ago. Nothing I have tried seems to be able to get rid of the
notifications alert. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this ?
