I think there was more of a danger of an energized Obama base had it been overturned. Now they just have the tear up the "Supreme Court is politicized!!!!" script.
In my view, the decision does little for his campaign. It's still the economy.

Re: Supreme Court Upholds Obama Health Care Mandate
Could this be said that this is the largest tax hike?

Either way, if Romney is elected, he will not have the number of votes in Congress to thrown Obama Care out, and he knows it. The Senate is still in control of the democrats.

Maybe he can just choose not to enforce it, like DOMA, or certain immigration laws?

No it doesn't.
If you have health insurance, you don't pay the tax.
And why shouldn't those who refuse to buy insurance pay the tax?
After all, they're the one's who cost us who do, lots of money when they show up in ER's without health insurance.

Indeed. The live stream I saw said the decision was 6-3, but now every article I have seen says 5-4. That means Roberts was the swing vote this time, not Kennedy.
I guess we'll be able to parse it out ourselves once the SCOTUS website posts the decision.

Re: Supreme Court Upholds Obama Health Care Mandate
And there's the final nail in the coffin. The government can do whatever they want. By nature governments grow and grow and grab more and more power.
The constitution is a joke. All of the judges on the supreme court are statists and benefit by the growing power of the government and police state. Anyone expecting liberty to be taken into consideration is kidding themselves.
Hooray for empire!!!

Not only that, but has there ever been such a drastic tax increase that would affect the middle class?
Good grief, I am sick to my stomach. I can only hope that this will increase support for Romney. This mandate is NOT popular with voters.

Yes, so many people treat the ER like their doctor's office. It is such a burden on the system. Hopefully this is a step towards a more equitable health care system for everyone.

Hell have to enforce it, because taxpayers will be footing the expensive bill of those who refuse to get health insurance and show up at hospital ERs.

You're being overly dramatic. They didn't win huge at all, in terms of votes. Before the verdict, there was debate over which result would help the President more. Now, itss a slam dunk? You're just depressed.
5 months from an election, and an issue that ranks way below the economy. Does this help anyone feed their family tomorrow?
Time will tell whether this moves the polling needle, but historical odds say it will not swing any election. Odds says it will be about who makes the most compelling case about the economy.
