World Youth Day 2013
Hello all, I have been searching the web the past few days looking for forums related to this and so far have found nothing so decided to stop being a forum lurker here and ask you all.
I would really like to go to WYD next year. The only problem is that I recently moved back to the great Canadian North. Not only is the only parish out of distance there are very few young active Catholics around. ( I do not know of a single one) So there will be no local group for me to go with, and while I have traveled by myself just fine I think I will be missing a large part of the point of fellowship if I do.
Are there groups for young professionals to link up with? Or is it standard that all groups come from local churches?
thanks all!

People can and do go alone, but you are right, a major part of the experience is the group fellowship. (I've done 3 WYDs and am now overage).
I imagine you are in a minor town if the nearest Catholics are far away. But you would then be travelling to Brazil from a major city. Maybe look for a pilgrimage group based in that city?

Check with your diocese and see if they have groups going. With SKYPE it should be easy to hook up with a group and meet online. Then you can join them when the time comes.

I understand what you mean. I'm in an isolated region, myself, although our community of Catholics numbers ~1500. Sadly, we have no one going to WYD2013 because we have no one of the right age involved in the Church. The women who've gone to the last couple of WYDs with kids from our parish are now in their mid 50s and truth be told, I wouldn't want to go anywhere with them if I was in my late teens and early 20s.
