Default Mermaids exist

There is a special on discovery channel about how mermaids exist. Its called "Mermaids: The Body Found." They used to be our ancestors, they were what became humans. Some of our ancestors stayed on land, and some went to the sea. The show is narrated by the scientists who discovered the mermaids. Mermaids are real, it is now a fact.

What do you think the Church's response will be?

The same as those of the rest of the sane world: If it were true, it would be all over the news stations, news papers, etc.

TV programs also have said we descended from Aliens...hmmmm...

.US government denies mermaids exist after documentary mix-up
There is currently no proof to support the existence of mermaids, the US government has surprisingly announced.

The National Ocean Service (NOC), a scientific agency of the US Commerce Department, made the strange declaration this week after receiving several inquiries from members of the public.

It follows the airing of a programme on the Discovery Channel entitled: Mermaids: The Body Found, which several members of the public confused for a real-life documentary.

The Discovery Channel admitted that some viewers mistook the programme for a science education show after it was accused of creating a 'wildly convincing picture of the existence of mermaids'.

To clear up the matter, the NOC decided to publish an article on the Ocean Facts section of its website simply entitled: 'Are mermaids real?'

The article continued: 'No evidence of aquatic humanoids has ever been found.

'Why, then, do they occupy the collective unconscious of nearly all seafaring peoples? Thatís a question best left to historians, philosophers, and anthropologists.'

The NOC also confirmed the article was written using publicly available sources, as it 'does not have a mermaid science programme', according to the BBC.

Most of the programming on the Discovery Channel and the History Channel vie with Orson Welles "Invasion from Mars" radio program for veracity. They sacrifice truth for sensation!
If anyone on this site believes anything from either of these TV channels, I have a bridge going from Manhattan to Brooklyn for sale....

This is a fiction show.

Oh, I'm sure it's exactly as authentic as The Celebrated Feejee Mermaid.

P. T. Barnum found it very profitable. And I suppose that after you found out what it was, you would have learned something educational.

But was it really P.T. Barnum?

I do trust a lot of Discovery / History channel programmes. They had an Ancient Aliens episode where they claimed rock hewn Churches in Lalibela, Ethiopia had been built with the help of aliens, and that Noah's Ark was a DNA bank

There won't be any Church response because there will be no response from any single responsible institution in the world. There's in fact a mermaid in Copenhagen but it is made of bronze.
