Later events, not so much. When he visited Katrina, the liberals howled. Selective memory on your part?

Actually liberals howled when he visted Ground 0 on September 14th 2001. I remember a CBS report talking about how Airforce 1 on September 11th, had no place to hide.....

Our prime minister visited our city after devastating earthquakes, and we also had a visit from Prince William since NZ is a member of the British Commonwealth.
This is really expected of any poliitical figure of any nationality.

the prime minister and prince william had reason to visit christschurch after the devastating earthquakes. that was a national disaster. i would hardly call new zealand a 3rd world country. not a real good analogy to what happened in colorado. maybe it reassured the people in colorado - i don't know.

Maybe that's because Bush waited so long to provide aid in the Katrina fiasco.

So glad you realise we are a 1st world country, even if insignificantly small.
And if I was in Colorado, whatever my political affiliation, I'd have been somewhat consoled to have the President visit us, and unimpressed if he didn't.
But that's an outsider's view of course. Politics isn't as cut-throat over here!

new zealand seems like a very peaceful place to live and definitely a 1st world country.
my online friend from new zealand has shared with me many things about new zealand.
i would love to visit some day. i didn't really start paying attention seriously to politics here in the u.s. until the 1990's and it is definitely getting more cut throat. we really need a strong third party, but who knows if that will ever happen.

Yeah, come on down! We are pretty peaceful.
To outsiders, American politics looks quite vicious and hateful, but I guess it's inevitable with a large powerful country, where politics/leadership etc plays out on a world stage.
Whereas, in a tiny little country, we have a few political parties to choose from, and we may not like the political party that gets elected, nor the prime minister, but we don't get too upset, cuz he or she and the party will probably get voted out next time, and the most important things (to us) will continue from one regime to the next!
Sorry for the digression

Big time. I love how liberals have completely forgotten the level of hatred directed at Bush. It doesn't excuse hatred for Obama, but there was certainly much more hatred for our previous president.

I freely admit many liberals hated and still hate Bush. Personally, I never hated the man, who appeared likeable in fact; but I strongly disagreed with many of his policies. Let's not forget that many conservatives also hated Clinton, both Bill and Hillary, and still do. It all goes with the political territory.

I'm glad you are now remembering this.
I don't hate Obama, nor did I hate Clinton. A lot of the polarization in our country is from such attitudes. We can disagree without hating.

My God, the man did something good, he showed he cares about his people. Now you people are turning this into and Obama bashing.
