Is this what is meant by becoming detached to worldly things? Merely being willing to give up everything for Christ?
Great point!
For example, if I was faced in a situation where I had to leave me apartment due to a upcoming natural disaster or war, I wouild leave. If I came back with everything wiped out, I may be in shock at first, but then walk away. I may 'miss' those things, but the life is more sacred. Just ask those who get wi[ed out by a tornado...what do you hear on the news...."At least I'm alive, things can be replaced."

I know if I don't try to pray in the morning as I first wake up, my day is just all messed up.
I do become tempted to turn the radio on first, instead I am learning to speak to God and try to listen to him than the newscaster.

This advice to look at everything we do and say in light of God's will is very important.

At work there is always so much gossip. Last year I tried to never participate in it, and to add a postive statement about the person. I used prayer on the way to work to help me keep my intentions of not gossiping. I know I didn't contibute to the gossip. As far as improving the overall climate at work,I never knew if it helped for sure, but I felt better about myself.

This is a kind of 'Look before you leap' sort of thing and Lord knows I've had the blinders on and fallen many a time.

The worries and troubles of my life have washed over me to the point that I see the wisdom of this statement. So much is beyond my control. I do what I can and leave what remains for God.

Yes, because an outside perspective can often see matters more clearly than I can, stuck in the mire. And certainly inclinations can prejudice my thinking.
