Hello-

Please pray for "Zo" and his family. He was officially dismissed from Catholic School because of his diabetes. The family tried to use a nun/attorney as a moderator, but some people are full of themselves and would not negotiate. The sad part is the Priest said he does not agree with the principles decision to kick "ZO" out, but he stands behind him 100%. Even though the diocese attorneys and the priest caught him in a lie.

So much for Catholic Charity! I am ashamed to call myself Catholic since this family is falling from their faith because of this. Please believe me when I say this is unbelievable.

This mother is crying everyday and this has been going on since June 15. The school told her yesterday not to come back. Now her children are not enrolled anywhere.

I think I would complain about this to anyone who would listen. Other parents. The parish board. The diocese department of education. The local newpaper. At any rate, your friend's son will probably get better care at another school. Perhaps if your friend explains the situation, another parish school will allow him in at the parishoner's rate?

I'm terribly sorry for this unjust outcome

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.

Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.

Amen.

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

This is discusting. In every religion there are people like this so please don't leave the Church over it though. I'll pray for you and your family.

As another poster stated, I am not completely sure why diabetes would get a child kicked out of school. Whatever is happening, it sounds pretty terrible, but I wouldn't give up on the church because of this.

My dad's side of my family left the church for a similar reason. His grandmother had Parkinson's and became to sick to attend Mass shortly b4 she died. When she passed away the parish refused to give her a Catholic funeral because she had missed Mass. She ended up getting a Catholic funeral, but only after the family agreed to make a donation. Sadly, this event led to my grandfather and his brothers leaving the Church.

It's sad when church officials are corrupt, but the corrupt ones are the minority. I would write letters to your parish and local newspaper. Also, if there is any way to appeal this decision, I would do it. Getting something like this reversed is not only important for your child, but any others who may face this same situation.

Good luck,
JK

Yes even though the they have a full time nurse, they said he is two much of a "liability". I think children with Peanut allergies are more of a liability then a child with diabetes. I do not want to get into this long story. I am telling you the truth when I say that my friend has been transparent from with me. I have seen the correspondence. This is Not the first time he got caught lying. I just cant imagine. I use to PRIDE myself for being CATHOLIC. The Charity in the Catholic Church can not be compared to any other. I thought we are suppose to help those like "ZO". I have been ministering to this Couple for over 2 years, and she is a catholic and he is an agnostic (ex-Muslim). Now they are broken. I CAN TELL YOU THAT NOTHING THIS FAMILY DID WAS BAD. Their beautiful little boy gets all A's and plays every sport. They are a very quite family. This will all effect their 6th grade daughter, who is hysterical about leaving the school. I am leaving too, but I found an awesome Catholic Parish only 15 minutes away. I came from the Chicago diocese. This small town stuff is definitely "off" from what I grew up with. PRAY PLEASE!!

They are violating the Americans with Disabilities Act when they chose to not enroll him because he has diabetes. Is there a civil claims attorney to file discrimination charges against the school? I would let this family know that other schools would most likely accept him with his diabetes and all. The law states that no child shall be left uneducated who needs or meets the criteria of special needs or has diseases which require special attention. The individuals with disabilities education act was passed in 1972 to guard and guarantee an education to those with disabilities and diseases like diabetes.
I will pray that this family find a more competant and law abiding religious school.
PRAYER OF TRUST TO SAINT JOSEPH
IN MOMENTS OF ANGUISH AND HARDSHIP.
Blessed Saint Joseph,
your intercession can make possible impossible things
come to help me in these moments of anguish and hardship.
Take under your protection
the difficult and grave situations I commend to you,
so they have a happy solution according to God's will.

My beloved father:
I trust you entirely
and abandon myself as a small child
sleeping in his dad's arms.

That could not be said I appealed to you in vain.
And as you, through the Lord,
can everything accomplish in front of Jesus and Mary,
show me your kindness is as greater as your power.

Amen.
