Default The Civil Rights Agenda files complaints against Chick-fil-A

(Chicago) Weekly Phoenix:

The Civil Rights Agenda files complaints against Chick-fil-A

Quote:
The Civil Rights Agenda, a local LGBT rights advocacy group, filed multiple complaints with the Illinois Department of Human Rights Thursday, alleging that the Atlanta-based Chick-fil-A restaurant chain’s “intolerant corporate culture” violates Illinois law and a provision in the state’s Human Rights Act.

“In our current high speed media and social media environment, Chick-fil-A has announced and caused to be published, to hundreds of millions of people, that LGBT people are unacceptable and objectionable,” said Jacob Meister, Governing Board President of TCRA and the attorney who filed the complaint. “They have made it clear the lives of LGBT individuals are unacceptable to them and that same-gender families are unwelcome at Chick-fil-A.”

Anthony Martinez, executive director of TCRA, contends that Chick-fil-A President Dan Cathy’s recent comments reiterating his opposition to same-sex marriage were more than just his own thoughts and that he was speaking on behalf of his company, stating the views as company policy.
I'm pretty sure Chick-fil-A could be shut down under Canada's HRC regime but to me claim they are making under the Illinois law seems like overreach. Can anyone prove discrimination against gays, either employees or customers?
I hope Chick-fil-A fights this. The usual scenario is that the company settles and agrees to subject to have all employees subjected to indoctrination ("sensitivity training") by some sodomite-approved organinsation.

The lawsuit is a loser and won't go anywhere but that isn't the point in filing it. The point in filing it is to get publicity, which you're happily helping them get so you can vent your self-righteous anger at their existence. Your response is as predictable as their waste of time lawsuit.

Pick your battles wisely and fight them with dignity. That demonstrates the difference between those who follow God's teachings and those who don't. Remember that verse about treating your enemies with kindness so as to "pour hot coals on his head"?

They're just looking for publicity. Let Chick-Fil-A's lawyers deal with them.

A Pavlovian response for certain.

Yes; the claims made by the Civil Rights Agenda are certainly unsupported and outrageous. The suit should go nowhere. But Chick-fil-A should not make any settlement agreement with them.

I suspect it wont be long before those who oppose homosexual marriage will be forced to wear yellow stars so people can readily identify the bigots in out society. This will be followed by smashing all the windows of businesses who refuse to support homosexual marriage.

If we ignore them, will they go away?

Has anyone here read the law in question? The lawsuit may actually have merit. Section 5-102 of the law in question states:

Quote:
It is a civil rights violation for any person on the basis of unlawful discrimination to... directly or indirectly, as the operator of a place of public accommodation, publish, circulate, display or mail any written communication, except a private communication sent in response to a specific inquiry, which the operator knows is to the effect that any of the facilities of the place of public accommodation will be denied to any person or that any person is unwelcome, objectionable or unacceptable because of unlawful discrimination.
Emphasis mine. So, we'll just have to see what the Human Rights Commission says.

That wouldn't apply. Homosexuals are welcome as employees and as customers, and Cathy said nothing about their being objectionable. He said only that he supports traditional marriage.
