Can I receive Holy Communion the day before a colonoscopy?

I am a daily communicant and I am due for a colonscopy. Can I receive Holy Communion the day before the procedure, when a bowel cleanse is necessary on the day of the colonscopy?
What is the proper time interval between receiving Holy Communion and having one's bowels cleansed? What happens to Our Lord in the Host after we consume Him?

When the body begins to digest the appearances of bread and the wine and they lose their apparent physical properties, they are no longer the Eucharist. This takes place in the stomach within about fifteen minutes after receiving. So you have nothing to worry about.
