Default Is the Roman Catholic Church the "original" Christian Church?

I know that both the Roman Catholic Church and the Eastern Orthodox Church are the first Christian churches, just that both have different authorities because of the schism, but they have almost the same teachings.

Although they are both the first churches, can you say that the Roman Catholic Church is the "original" of the two, since the Eastern Orthodox Church doesn't recognize the authority of the Pope, the bishop of Rome and the head of the Roman Catholic Church, which is said to originate from Saint Simon Peter in which Jesus Christ himself appointed the said Saint to build the church?

I want to hear the opinions of both Roman Catholics and Eastern Orthodox faithfuls here. Thanks!

Neither is more "original" than the other. They are both the original Church.

Thanks for the response. Feel free to correct or explain to me regarding this. Knowing that we Roman Catholics and our Orthodox brothers and sisters are "one" really makes me happy!

Both of them have Apostolic Succession. That aside, the beauty and authenticity of Catholicism is of no coincidence.

The "Catholic Church" ....is the better term.

"Roman Catholic" is a much later name and really it is more fitting for the Roman Church within the Catholic Church.

First members of the Church were called it seems simply "the disciples"...

I bit later called followers of "the way" ..and it seems ..."Nazarenes"...

then at Antioch we started being called Christians.

Later in the first century the Church began to be called "Catholic" (see St. Ignatius --again at Antioch --for his use around the year 100).

The Churches are split so depending on where you stand the other is still in a state of mortal sin. Galatians 5:19-21 with an emphasis on Galatians 5:20 which talks of faction and dissension 5:21 states the consequences of dissensions and factions. 1 Cor 1:10 talks more on dissension, but makes no mention of the consequences as Galatians 5 does and John 17:20-23 is Christ's prayer for unity, but once again makes no mention of sins associated with separation.

Its the wrong question.
You should ask if the Catholic Church (not the Roman Catholic Church) is the original and only true Church. The answer to that is yes. The Catholic Church comprises the Latin Church and the Eastern Catholic Churches. The Orthodox Church is simply a schismatic part of the Catholic Church.
