Default White House to release petroleum reserves

WASHINGTON - Energy Secretary Samuel W. Bodman said Wednesday the Bush administration will release oil from petroleum reserves to help refiners affected by Hurricane Katrina. An announcement was expected later in the day. The move is designed to give refineries in the Gulf Coast area a temporary supply of crude oil to take the place of interrupted shipments from tankers or offshore oil platforms affected by the storm.

Keep in mind the President didn't want to do this.Public opinion would have forced him. The President is buddies with the oil companies,he just gave them big tax breaks and Tax credits in his energy bill. There gauging has already started they will raise the price of Gas as high as they thik the Republicans will be able to give them cover for.

The Presdint was not forced to do anything. The strategic oil reserve is for use in an emergency only. As the Presdident has said repeatedly again and again and again over the last few years high gas prices is not an emergency. Having 16% of the countries oil and gas producing/refining capacity shut down is.

BTW-do you think that perhaps we could wait until the dead are buried before people started tryig to use this tragedy to advance their political agendas? It is sad to say but where most see 100s of thousands of Americans in need you seem to see an opportunity to vent your hatred of Bush.
