Default Jamie Foxx calls Barack Obama 'our lord and savior'

Appearing on Sunday night's Soul Train awards in Las Vegas, Oscar-winning actor Jamie Foxx called Barack Obama "our lord and savior."

"It's like church over here. It's like church in here. First of all, give an honor to God and our lord and savior Barack Obama. Barack Obama," he said.

To which the audience screamed.

Interesting.
I guess he hopes the President will "save" the country.
The words "lord" and "savior" can indeed be used in different ways other than specifically meaning Jesus in the bible.
But I wonder why he described the atmosphere as being "like a church"...?

Here is what he said about Obama in an interview on the religious website, "Hollow Verse" (http://hollowverse.com/jamie-foxx/), which explains a bit the "saving" comment you posted:

Foxx leaves nothing on the table in regards to his political beliefs: he’s a fervent supporter of the Democratic party....His support for the Democrats seems to stem mainly from his belief that government should be working for the common man–the lower and middle classes. He said,

"No matter how much money I make, it doesn’t matter. Every time I drive down the street or into a neighborhood that doesn’t have as much, you feel for them. . . . I think what we gotta get away from is, making the person who is the common man feel bad about himself. . . . Everyone matters".

Huh? The phrase "lord and savior" can not be dissected. And he prefaces it by saying "Our God" so he is blaspheming.

He's an okay actor. Not very bright, though.

Should anyone really care what Jamie Foxx says? Even the people in the audience wouldn't have taken him seriously.

Doesn't matter what he is. Crossing a line is crossing a line.

SO is there as much when Limbaugh and Coulter makes racist remarks?

The common response around here is "they are entertainers".

No doubt Mr. Foxx does not care what I think but not taking a stand is really wrong for me. I have banned Two and a Half Men in our home because I thought it was nothing but filth and now one of its stars agrees with me. I took a hammer to a tape our son played one day when he was out in our car that had about 3 words in it all beginning with f. MTV was never allowed in our home, and now any time I see Jamie Fox he will be turned off too. Crossing a line does not do justice to what he did, and there are some topics most comedians never tackle. I agree with the statement that our country is going to he'll faster than I can count.

I can't reply to that without an example.

I'm not sure I recall anyone here, or in the video, making any racist remarks. The concern here is equating Obama with Christ, and I have never ever heard Limbaugh or Coulter blaspheme. Why are you turning this into something racial?

Yes he is a comedian. I think he is just picking up on how some people view Barack Obama. I've met a lot of those people in Hawaii.
