Arrow Sudoku, anyone?

Who knows what I'm talking about?

Have you tried it, and what do you think?

(For those unfamiliar with the term, it's a Japanese numerical "crossword" puzzle of sorts that requires only logic to solve.)

I completed my first one yesterday & felt sooooooo proud of myself!

I've enjoyed sporadically for years in Games magazine. My daily paper just started printing them along side the crossword. I try to save the printed ones for my son, while I get my kicks on line at Websudoku.

Oh dear...I think I'm gonna be in trouble, then!
What I was wondering about was, how big can they get? I've only seen the one I did, but can't figure out how they could get bigger than 9 x 9...or can they?

Cool Re: Sudoku, anyone?

I don't know why they couldn't get bigger than 9x9, as long as the length of the side is a square number like 16x16 or 25x25

(...ooooh, sudoku in hexadecimal...my brain is hurting)

So far, all I've seen in the newspaper and web are 9x9 squares made of 3x3 squares, but Games would sometimes include variations where the internal components were non-square shapes (and though symmetric, non-congruent).

That's it, I'm now dealing with another addiction. CAF, chocolate, and now Sudoku. I'd be angry, but you gave that darn disclaimer, so all I can really say is, "Thanks."

I had never heard of it until our local paper started getting the LIfe mag insert once a week and it has it.

I love it and am so addicted. It's my new favorite thing. I have to brag that one day I couldn't find a pencil and did it in pen and only had to scribble once

Talking Re: Sudoku, anyone?

My mom does this puzzle sometimes. I've tried it, but I can never get it right. Not even the easy ones. She had an idea that I thought was really good to help her, but she said it didn't really help. She had made a grid on her computer where she had all the numbers in each box, then she would circle the ones given and cross out all the rest. I've tried it that way, because I know that's the only way I'll ever be able to solve one if I ever do. But it gets so messed up, no matter how careful I am.

You're the devil!

I just heard about it last week - that it was good exercise for the brain. So I got myself a book and started doing the puzzles this past weekend. And I'm addicted!!

I started my first 16x16 last night (from the book I got) but put it down so I could go to bed with my wife.
