Default Mini-series about the Bible?

I just saw this news article about the makers of some reality TV shows making a mini-series about the Bible:

http://religion.blogs.cnn.com/2013/0...ife/?hpt=hp_c1

It looks like it's going to be shown on the History Channel. I like the History Channel, but I don't always like their depiction of the Catholic Church. Further, the couple, who are the makers of the mini-series, were raised Catholic, but I still feel a bit iffy about having the makers of "Survivor" make a mini-series about the Bible.

What are your thoughts?

I watched the program on GMC on how they made this mini-series.

It looks like it will be good, but we'll have to just watch it to know.

My first impression is that it had more of a fundamentalist interpretation of the Bible, especially the little piece the showed of Moses parting the Red Sea. It's a Cecil B. Demille(Producer of the Ten Commandments) type literal interpretation, which scholars mostly reject.

I totally agree with you and I'm usually very cautious on what's depicted, but I'm hopeful that it will be something worth watching

Question Re: Mini-series about the Bible?

Roma Downey is said to be a devout Catholic. I believe Della Reese (a minister) married her and her husband.
I must admit I was surprised to see Roma and her husband on Raymond Arroyo's program on EWTN, The World Over. Did Roma marry in the Catholic Church?

Here is the link:

Also, I heard on Raymond Arrayo that they were in touch with Cardinal Weurl to make sure the project is in line with Catholic teaching.

I think this looks like a good one to watch.

It does seem she was married by Della Reese. But I don't think that is a reason not to watch the show. Here is an article that might shed some more light for you:

I do plan to watch it. Already have the DVR set up.

I'm just concerned about the "devout" Catholic comment.

I don't care what Roma Downey and Mark Burnett's story is, but they are now Christians and trying to live a life devoted to Jesus Christ.

Burnett talked about his conversion somewhat in the program about the making of the movie.

We should rejoice over their conversion and pray that God's will will be done through them.

Hmm... I was going to watch it anyway, but with low expectations. Now I have higher expectations. Cool.
