Default The US Army vs Catholicism and Evangelical Christianity

My Church partner called me today after learning about this. Scary times ahead for Catholics and Christians in the United States.

Mark Steyn critiqued this brilliantly yesterday here:

As he says, as a civilisation, we are now almost too stupid to survive.

This doesn't surprise me, as for progressives the first commandment is "you will have no
other Gods except government.

The link is incomplete, it only shows the second part of the article.

The DOD has stated that that presentation was created without its knowledge or consent by a very misled instructor. I wouldn't be so quick to blame the Army for one person's ignorance.

I understand that. And I would expect that senior officers were horrified ... and all that usual PC nonsense. What troubles me more, as someone who has served, is that the officer/NCO making the presentation thought this was an OK comparison to make - that somehow the Church and evangelicals are a logical fit with a list of genuine threat groups like Islamists and the KKK. That is the sort of idiotic mindset that indicates a military bureaucracy with no idea what it is doing and, just as clearly, no real local leadership.

And if a similarly "misled instructor" had made a presentation making a similar accusation concerning all of Islam - instead of specific known groups - the mainstream media would have gone crazy, there would have been calls for investigation of the Army's culture, and lots of public breast-beating. We would have heard about "tolerance." We would have heard about "diversity." But when Christianity is involved, not so much.

Yes, the mainstream media are crazy. We already knew that.

My point is to give the DOD a break. It's already bad enough that they're under the command of the president.
