Default Should we capitalize pronouns in reference to the Mother of God?

Hey everyone. Should we capitalize pronouns in reference to the Mother of God such as: thou, thee, thy, she, and her? I did this in one of my posts before as a matter of respect but I am not sure if I should do this or not. I do capitalize pronouns in reference to God out of adoration for Him but I am not sure if I should do this for the great Mother of God. That said, I do capitalize her titles such as "Mother of God", "Theotokos", and "Our Lady of Lourdes".

I think most Catholics capitalize pronouns referring to the Blessed Virgin as an expression of special veneration - hyperdulia.

Titles - yes. Pronouns - no. Unless you are elevating her to goddess status. Even pronouns for God (all 3 of Trinity) are not capitalized any more.

No, for she is a creature.

We capitalize such things as Blessed, Virgin, Mother, etc. out of respect but I believe hyperdulia does not extend as far as capitalizing pronouns.

This is an interesting topic. I rarely hear anything about Mary at church except during the Christmas season.

No, and I really hate it when people capitalize pronouns in reference to our Lady. But I do capitalize nouns in titles, as is appropriate for both religious an linguistic reasons. I even do not capitalize pronouns with reference to God and OLJC.

I only capitalize that which is of divine origin, so Christ, God in general, or our Holy Mother Church, but don't for Mary.

Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't, it depends on wither or not I think of it.

I'm sorry if my post where I capitalized pronouns in reference to her was offensive to you. If it was offensive to you then I sincerely apologize. I do hope you forgive me.

That said, it seems like the consensus is that I should not do this so I will not do it any more. I can no longer go back and edit the post as it has been a couple or a few days since I posted it and I am no longer allowed to edit it.

NJ is not in the US?

In most modern books (last 20 years?) pronouns are not capitalized. Not even in the Bible, at least not in my copy of the New American Bible. Didn't look at the other modern versions.

But you may capitalize all you want. Whether words are capitalized or not is a matter of custom, not law.

I haven't seen any of your posts where you did this so I could hardly be offended by them.

It is better to err on the side of excessive devotion than on the side of irreverence...
