Fun Things to do at Mass
1. Refer to the priest as "dude."
2. During the homily turn around periodically and say to the people around you, "that was a really good point, don't you think?"
3. Shout "amen" during the homily.
4. Go to a parish where you know they don't hold hands during the Our Father and insist on holding your neighbors' hands.
5. End every religious conversation you have with "in the spirit of Vatican II, of course."
6. Ask the greeters if the holy water is fresh.
7. Before Mass ask the people in and around your pew if they are saved.
8. Just before Mass ask the Choir leader if he/she takes requests.
9. When the kids are dismissed just before the homily, get up and go with them.
10. As the priest processes out, after Mass, quickly sidle up next to him and whisper, as you look around, "I've got your six, homes."
11. If your Church has a Saturday Vigil Mass, go to the Sunday morning Mass and during the homily say, loud enough for those around you to hear, "Oh I heard this last night."
12. In the middle of homily raise your hand and say "can you verify that, Father?"
13. When the offering basket comes to you refuse to pass it on. Hold it in your lap firmly looking around suspiciously.

Shout "amen" during the homily.

Believe it or not I had a Pentecostal BIL who repeatedly did this (in all innocence) at my father's funeral Mass during the homily. At first the priest seemed slightly taken aback; then he actually seemed to enjoy it!
My father, BTW, would have been amused.

I personally think that would be quite funny as well.

Why are children being dismissed prior to the homily

because that's when the babies and toddlers start crying, screaming and throwing cheerios?
No, because in many parishes small children are dismissed with their catechists before the readings for their own children's liturgy of the word, with instruction based on the readings from the children's lectionary, and return in time for the prayer of the faithful. This forum is not the place to debate the pros and cons of this practice--lots of other active threads doing that.

At a Newman Center which I once attended, one of the priests would occasionally ask during his homily, "Can I get an amen on that?"
