Question Can a false prophet perform a genuine baptism?

Hi all; when someone is baptisd by a bonafide false prophet if the said false prophet does so in the name of the Trinity/in the name of Jesus; is their salvation at stake? If the one being baptised has intentions that are genuine, does that make the difference due to any other fallicies? Thanks.

How do you define false prophet?

Baptism with water and in the name of the Trinity is valid. Baptism "in the name of Jesus" alone is invalid.

Anyone can baptize. Ordinarily, the minister is a Catholic priest or deacon. But Protestants baptize validly, so do heretics and schismatics, atheists, pagans, and yes, false prophets.

The only salvation jeopardized by a false prophet is his own.

According to Church teaching, anyone can baptize, as long as the person intends doing what the Church does. This could be important in some circumstances. For example it could matter when a new-born baby in the hospital is dying--any of the medical personnel could baptize it when the mother, say, asks him or her to. It doesn't matter what the person baptizing believes or the state of their soul.

To Elizium23

I am appreciative. The false prophet was discovered to be a member though not the leader of a cult where every week some holy ghost (common letters intentional) annointed person would have to 'prophesy' giving even time limits... and nothing but the opposite ever happened; repeatedly (John S). He is also a sadist, callous and perverted.

The baptism was based on Acts 2:37 but as my opinion was not questioned I stayed out of it at that time. I just have to laugh (sadly) at the depravity of 'Christians' and wonder when James 2:19 will occur. The wrong are very 'strong'.

To mdgspencer that is an important exception, thank you.

So, besides not using the Trinity, and in my opinion propagating the devil's work I would have to say he is no way in line with any church so it's a double fail. Glad my thinking is congruent with those of true believers.

Many blessings.
