... and by fussing about it, NBC is just getting free publicity.

My policy is, if you don't like it, don't watch it.

I say speak up...free publicity? well, it goes both ways ...but it does let the networks know its not appreciated...and if enough folks speak out it will influence not only network but others to speak out more about the insults to Christians.

Let's keep in mind a couple of things....

1.) It's not intended to actually reflect society, but to be a caricature of it to be the vehicle for a sit-com.

2.) They're not taking a "cheap shot" at the Catholic Church, but the Episcopalian one.

3.) I'm never one to rush blindly to support an organization run by Evangelical Fundamentalists. Not only do they have a bad habit of not considering us to be Christians, but they don't consider many of our Mainline Protestant brethren to be Christian either (certainly the Episcopalians are part of this group that they exclude). I'm amazed that they're even fretting about this. When did the AFA lead the charge against attacks on the Catholic Church on ABC's The Practice or Boston Legal?

4.) I take my faith very seriously, but I don't take myself so seriously. I can honestly watch this and be amused, or I can be offended by it and turn it off, but I'm not going to join forces with the Evangelicals just because NBC has a show that the Evangelicals claim is attacking all of Christianity.

5.) Most critics think the show isn't good enough to last a season. ... That probably means I, of all people, will like it.

NBC Affiliate Says No To 'Book of Daniel'

Other local affiliates bombarded with phone calls, having second thoughts about carrying the program. Terre Haute, Indiana, NBC affiliate WTWO has become the first station to announce that it will not carry the anti-Christian program The Book of Daniel. We urge you to call your local NBC affiliate and ask them to join WTWO in not carrying the program. Please call today and ask others to call. The phone calls do make a difference! [ http://www.nbc.com/nbc/header/Local_Stations ]

Click Here to read a review of the show by AFA's Ed Vitagliano, who has viewed the entire premiere episode of NBC's The Book of Daniel.

AFA has also learned that NBC is having trouble securing sponsors for the program. It appears that NBC will be forced to fill the available ad spots with "distressed merchandise" ads which are sold at pennies on the dollar of the going rate, and with "make good" ads which bring in no money to the network.

Please call local companies which advertise on your NBC affiliate and ask the local advertisers in a nice way to cancel their advertising on the local affiliate if it carries the program.

It is time to make our voice heard at NBC that we will not long remain silent about their anti-Christian bigotry. Here is what NBC considers to be a positive portrayal of Christians and Christianity:

The program's main characters include Daniel Webster, a drug-addicted Episcopal priest; his alcoholic wife; his son, a 23-year-old homosexual Republican; his daughter, a 16-year-old drug dealer; a 16-year-old adopted son who is having sex with the bishop's daughter; his lesbian secretary who is sleeping with his sister-in-law; and a very unconventional white-robed, bearded Jesus who talks to the priest.

It is written by Jack Kenny, a practicing homosexual who describes himself as being "in Catholic recovery," and is interested in Buddhist teachings about reincarnation and isn't sure exactly how he defines God and/or Jesus. "I don't necessarily know that all the myth surrounding him (Jesus) is true," he said.

Finally, join nearly 500,000 individuals who have already emailed NBC about their anti-Christian bigotry. Click here to send your email. AND PLEASE FORWARD TO FAMILY AND FRIENDS! WE CAN WIN THIS BATTLE IF WE ALL WILL GET INVOLVED! [ https://secure.afa.net/afa/afapetiti...ion.asp?id=175 ]

Would you consider a small financial gift to help AFA continue this battle? Click here to help. [ http://www.afa.net/donate.asp ]

Sincerely,

Don

Fortunately the previews look so stupid, I doubt anyone (Christian or not) will watch it.

I agree 100%

The show won't make it one season anyhow. Unless it becomes "contraversial" because of the publicity people who don't like it will give it.

Looks like this show may be dead before its premier.

Does it matter? When it comes to what is aired on national television and it effects peoples lives about any faith would you just simply ignore it?

Well, I saw the show promotion and read about it and found it shocking...now some may say its only the Evangeicals protesting and they may say its against the Episcpal church...but I consider them Christians. And they are right to call attention to this...perhaps the show won't last....God will not be mocked.
