At the beginning of today's show, Jerry mentioned the potential for temptation to respond to the pre-approved credit offers many of us receive. I just wanted to mention that there are "opt-out" choices.
You can send a letter to each credit reporting agency asking to be removed from their marketing lists. Here is a sample letter along with the addresses of each agency:
http://www.ftc.gov/privacy/cred-ltr.htm or
You can call 1-888-5-OPTOUT (1-888-567-8688), and follow the instructions given, or
You can opt-out online here:
http://www.OptOutPreScreen.com.
By opting out of receiving these offers, you can also reduce the risk of identity theft by not having the offers sit in your mailbox all day while you are at work. You never know where those identity-theives may be lurking.
You also can save a few trees with less junk mail in your trash

ok, ok...I'm originally from the Pacific Northwest!
