Default Mass Song Book

Does anybody know where to buy the Mass song book that has the chords of the songs?

Or are they also available online in internet?

You would have to be more specific. There are several publishers for Mass song books and each publisher puts out more than one book.

Most of these publishers have editions which are designed for organ, piano, guitar, etc. You could probably look in the book your parish uses and find out who publishes it. Most publishers have websites with online catalogs.

If the music is modern it is probably under copyright protection so you won't find it for free on the internet. If you are looking for traditional hymns you might be able to find what you are looking for on the internet.

Thanks for the quick reply. Our church does not use books for the songs, we print song handouts every Sunday so I do not know which song book that is used for reference.

I am looking for the ones for guitar and piano.

regards,

Your parish probably has a license agreement then with a publisher. If they are using anything composed recently they'd need a license to legally put out their song book. You should be able to find out which company they have the agreement with and then look on their website for a guitar accompaniment book.

Good luck

Both GIA and OCP put out a guitar edition of their respective hymnals. A catholic bookstore might carry such and item or check out the respective websites and order over the internet. Many of the same songs are in all the books, especially the common ones.

if you are talking about "guitar Mass" type songs, i.e. Contemporary Christian praise and worship music, your parish should have a license with CCL (the number should be printed on your songsheets) and there is software (SongSelect) that lets them download music, chords and lyrics. ask your music director or pastor, or whoever prints the songsheets,.

if you are talking about the usual Catholic hymnals, most contemporary ones are licensed by either CIA or Oregon Catholic Press, you can find out by looking in the hymnals. they have downloadable and printed music, lyrics, chords, and some transcriptions for guitar.
If you are fortunate enough to use the Adoremus hymnal you won't need guitar chords, but they can give you the relevant chant tones.
