Religion: I am a Catholic!!
Default Throw some pretty Catholic girl names at me.

DH and I just found out today we are pregnant We know what we will name the baby if it is a boy, but a girl we have no idea.

I am looking for a Catholic name, possibly the name of a saint. We like names to be strong, but simple. We don't care for the frilly names. Also, don't care for names that are common.

Any ideas?

Yes, I had the same trouble with girls names, luckily four months ago I had a boy. We named him Aidan. All the girls names I liked were taken by people I knew..... Monica, Isabelle, Cecilia. Anastasia and Felicity are in the Canon of the Tridentine Mass. There's a saint Madeleine, which I quite like, and Lucy's nice.

My grandparents named my mother with a pretty common name "Mary", but in spanish Maria. But her middle name is truly beautiful. DeLaLuz. Of the Light.

Magdalene is beautiful. Celeste. Catherine. Elizabeth.

Ann (with an "e" please - from Anne of Green Gables )

Cecilia? Therese? Stella Maris (quite a popular name in Southern Holland, in honour of Our Lady 'Star of the Sea')? Clare?

I've always loved the name Siobhán , pronounced sha-von. Good Irish name.

When my daughter was pregnant with third child she wanted Lily but her DH wanted Ann, so they compromised and called her Lilyan (Lillian).

Katie,

Leah is my second daughters middle name and Rose is my oldest daughters middle name .

Is Rose a Catholic name? I love that name and isn't the rose a symbol of Mary?

Isn't any name of a girl who is Catholic a Catholic girl's name?

My daughter's name is Abigail, which means father's joy. I have no idea if that is a Catholic name but I think that it is pretty.

Well...strictly speaking one of the girl's names has to ba a Catholic saint's name (because of baptism)...But the other names could be just names you like.

According to This Abigail was the intelligent and beautiful wife of the churlish and miserly Nabal who saved her husband's life and possessions by giving gifts to King David. She married David upon the untimely death of her husband. See 1 Samuel, chapter 25.

For Rose look up Róisín.

Abigail? Of course it's a "Catholic" name. Check out I Sam 25. Any Old Testament saint name is a Catholic name. I love all the classics: Eve, Sarah, Rachel, Rebecca, Leah, Abigail . . . When you give a child one of these names, it's a good idea to read the story first, otherwise, like one idiot I know, you might end up naming your daughter Jezebel "because it sounds nice."

I love the name Rose - there is a St. Rose.

Jessica Rose was my pick, but we had a son. I love him anyway

Martha.

There aren't too many of us. And it's a Catholic name.

If I had another little girl, I'd name her Mary Grace.

I think that's a beautiful name and it reminds me of one of my favorite prayers - The Hail Mary!

Very Catholic that!

My Mom's name, Veronica, is beautiful and almost never used any more.
