Default "Life in the Spirit" seminar

Has anyone here participated in the Life in the Spirit seminars? My parish's charasmatic prayer group is offering them. I haven't been able to find out much online that goes beyond the blurb in the parish bulletin.

If anyone has participated in them, what were they like? Was it a positive experience, even if it didn't lead you into long term involvement in the charasmatic movement? Was it mainly orthodox or largely heterodox?

I'm suspiscious of the charasmatic movement on the whole, but I'm feeling very prompted to take part in this seminar. I am most decidedly NOT a touchy type person (I think it borders on phobia, to be honest) with people outside of my family, so I'm also concerned about that.

Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Default Re: "Life in the Spirit" seminar

I attended one back in Aberystwyth, led by a charismatic (in character) Nigerian, alongside a local nun. As I recall I really enjoyed it and found it helpful.

On the other hand, at the time I was still rather anti-catholic and since there was a mix of catholic & protestant attending, we didn't hear about Mary etc. It's one of the little steps on my own road to Catholicism. At the time I remember being very shocked to be hugged by a nun.

As to its quality as a Catholic education, I really cannot comment as I wasn't Catholic then by any means, and haven't looked into these Seminars since converting.

Check to make sure it has the approval of the Diocesan Liaison for the Charismatic Renewal.
