Default Health Care cost sharing "ministries"

Does anyone have or know of anyone with experience with healthcare cost-sharing organizations such as Medi-Share and others? I have friends trying to get medical insurance for their family who are taken aback by the high cost. My concerns are: 1. Does it work? (pay for care) and 2. Are these organizations so sectarian that "faithful Catholics needn't apply"?

A google of "Medi share complaints" will give you hefty bit of reading.

If it sounds too good to be true, it is.

I have been a member of Samaritan Ministries for several years, and we're pretty happy with it. We've just had our 5th child on the membership, and the bills were met in their entirety.

Catholics are welcome to join, too.
