Anyone who does not admire, Washington does not understand
what is admirable.

In a life of Washington read many years ago (do not ask by whom)
I was told that in his later years he had abandoned Christianity
for Masonry. Now, there are Masons and there are Masons. In
its essence Masonry is anti-Christian, but this does not appear
to have carried over to the American form of it which seems to
be more social than ideological.

I have never before encountered a claim that Washington died
a Catholic. I cannot give a lot of weight to it. Still, it seems fitting
that God should have given so great and good a man the grace
of conversion upon his death-bed.

Could still be. People change, sometimes.

Heh, for a good example of the above, see Danton of the French Revolution. Check out Dr. Warren Carroll's book "The Guillotine and the Cross" for a good account of his conversion.

i am completely in agreement for who the man was and what he did for me and you and this country but whether he died a catholic or not he was still a freemason, this is somethin g u just dont turn in your membership.thisw is passed dowbn for generations to generations. it is a nice thought that he died a catholic as i myself converted recently but in my history my father was a 33 degee freemason and i too broke the mold. but as history tells us this wonderful country was built with these people in charge.i plan on checking in to the knights asap to try and stop this tyranny. keep an open mind...and always put giod where he belongs first in everything..peace
