I will already be up, but alas, the bright moon and/or our seasonal overnight marine layer, will prevent me from seeing much. Enjoy for the both of us!

We could be clouded over as well; we'll see what things are like when I get up for my usual 0200 trip to the bathroom. (It's a geezer thing; don't ask.)

The waning moon might be a problem, but I'm gonna give it a shot!

I work well into the night in the lonely, unlit desert. Tonight, the moon will not rise until after 10PM, so tonight is a wonderful night to watch the meteors, unless, that is, you have cloud cover. Then, there is always the Leonid later in the year. Both are fantastic shows. In Langtry, Texas and especially in tiny Juno, TX, there is absolutely no light pollution and when there is no moon you can clearly see the Milky Way every night. The last five years have been clear for the Perseid, and you can see two or three meteors per minute. Some meteors streak very low across the sky and light up the desert like a bright green sideways lightning streak. It's actually quite eerie! And some even explode in the sky like green fireworks!

I had forgotten about the light pollution; we live in the country, but there is a town about 10 miles away precisely in the direction of where the Perseids will be coming from.

Oh my goodness! I completely forgot!

We're a bit cloudy at the moment, but I'm confident it will be crystal clear by nightfall.

I probably won't be waking up early to watch the skies. I'll just take my chances on seeing a few meteors later tonight.

And THANK YOU for the reminder!!!

I'll be up, but since it is overcast and rainy here and I will be driving on a major turnpike, I won't be seeing jack

I was awake at 0200, so I went outside for a look-see. The combination of the moon (only about 45 degrees off the line of sight), and the lights from Cullman and Good Hope made the area around Perseus the brightest quadrant of the sky. I stood outside for about 5 minutes, saw nothing, and decided that I would be better off in bed examining the insides of my eyelids.

Heavy fog, thick as pea soup. Not a chance! ...had the popcorn popped and everything.

The kids were disappointed.
