Default Christ Renews His Parish/CHRP

My parish has started to have the Christ Renews His Parish (CRHP) retreat weekends. I understand that this is not produced locally, but is a 'national' program. I've been searching the web trying to find out information on the origin, sponsor, or developer of the program. No luck, except I do find many parishes that offer the program.

Curious if anyone knows where this came from? At first I thought it was related to RENEW (which our parish also did a few years ago) but I looked at their site and found no reference to CHRP. Or is it related to Cursillo?

I have not been interested in, or approached to participate but was curious as to other people's experience with the program or any information on it's origin.

This is a web site that had some basic info:

It says it was founded in 1969 in Parma, Ohio.

It appears to be focused on community building more than a faith experience.

Curious that even is a parish site. They all seem to be using the same template and have the same FAQ.
"Claiming that "we don't want to impose our beliefs on society" is not merely politically convenient; it is morally incoherent and irresponsible." --- Archbishop Charles Chaput

We have had this program in our parish for several years and it does build community, but more importantly yields parishioners who have a renewed faith and a stronger spirituality. Many young folks here have become "reverts" after participating. The team for putting on a retreat is made up of the previous class of retreatants plus an experienced spiritual director. The team goes through a six month period of spiritual formation before putting on the next retreat. A very complete manual from the Ohio people is provided to each person and provides a road map for the process which has proven to be in my opinion quite sucessful. I have done RENEW and some other programs and feel that CHRP like RCIA can help build a strong and orthodox parish.
